Barbarossa Panzer III Ausf. J (early)
Second time building this kit. Not perfect but that's OK, as I don't do perfect.
Engine covers from my spares box, left over Dragon parts.
Almost a drop fit, just had to sand down the sides opposite of the hinges.
Basic hull and superstuction together in a blink of the eye.
Running gear ready for it's tracks. Idler and drive sprocket fit tightly and will not need glue.
91 links for a well-tensioned track. Same on the other side.
Filling in the turret roof screws for the L/60 variant. Trying plastic as a filler...
Take two. Missed two of the four screw heads that I need to fill. So, try again with small, plastic rod.
Hinges.
Very small. Very fiddley...
The first one was so small it was hard to hold and work on.
For the second one, I left a "tab" on. Much easier to hold and had greater control.
Better. Quicker. Two down, six to go.
Ending a dry spell. Added hull machine gun barrel from Aber. Working on details.
Festooning details.
