Look great, but you passenger side rims are backwards, the locking hub in on the rear, as driver side is correct.

That's the grille from the AMT 1972 "Coke" Chevy pickup? Did it fit OK? I'm looking at going the opposite direction, stealing the GMC grille to mount on the Chevy pickup to match a truck I own.

Good to hear! Time to order the Chevy kit from Amazon and the grille from eBay. 😎 Thank you. 😎

If you have a Hobby Lobby near you, you can get the C-10 Chevy cheaper than AMAZON.

Good try, but I'm deep in the Vermont woods. 😎 The nearest Hobby Lobby to me is ... ... ... wait. I'm shocked. Only an hour away. Thank you again! 🙂
Hey, my default smileys give me SUNGLASSES. How appropriate for today, since we've been suffering from the eclipse since <6:00 AM today and no sign of traffic slowing down.

Check that they have there 40 percent off that they have every other week, then look for the 72 Racers Wedge kit, it has the option for the bed or car carrier in box, it's listed for around 34 bucks but you get for 20 bucks. It's molded in white not red like the coke truck, then you will have the carrier for future projects and it has some cool tools and extras in the kit1972 Chevy Racer's Wedge Pick Up (MPC 885, 1:25)

That's exactly the one I was looking at. I always download the instruction sheets for everything that catches my interest, so I spotted the cool two-way-build option fairly early on. I'm gonna' LOVE HL's discount system!
I can always fabricate a trailer out of the wedge. 😎
Got eny leads on any sort of model that'd pass as a 1980 Dodge shortbed townside pickup with dual headlights? 😄
I mean for less than about $400. 😄

'80 Dodge Ramcharger (Revell 85-4372, 1:24)
1978 Dodge D100 (MPC 901, 1:25)
A kit bash of these two should get you there. And eBay has 4 eye grills if you want too by pass the Ram charger.

Very GOOD. I've been closely eyeing the '78 pickup, and I've even steeled myself to cutting down the bed & frame & driveshaft to make it a shortbed. I wasn't aware, though, of the Revell '80 Ramcharger. I could maybe even scavenge its rear driveshaft and front axle / transfer case / front driveshaft to make the PU into a FWD. I'll give that a really close look & see what it takes.
Thanks again, kind sir. 😎

Personally I wouldn't recommend combining those two kits. The Revell Ramcharger is 1/24th scale and it is notably larger than the MPC pickup which is 1/25th.

Good eye. I hadn't spotted that.
I may need to make my own grille and try to chrome it. That or paint the grille on my "IRL" truck. 😎

That grille is a good find, but it appears to be from the 1:24 Monogram / Revell Ramcharger, so it may be too big for the 1:25 AMT or MPC pickup. 8(
I ran into more trouble with the Chevy / GMC thing. The truck I'm trying to copy in a model is 4WD, and the Chevy pickup model's 2WD front axle support area is pretty dense so although I could scavenge the whole drivetrain from the Jimmy, I'd pretty much be forced to also scavenge its frame, too, after lengthening it for the longbed pickup... and the undersides of the cab and bed may then not work out unless I emulate any detail in the Jimmy's floor on the Chevy's floor. I may still get it done, but it's far from trivial.
My Jeep project is looking much simpler: I own a IRL '74 Jeep CJ5 Renegade with the 304; it's equipped with a snowplow. I bought the 1:25 Golden Hawk CJ5, but it ships with the 4-cylinder engine so I dug up a V8 from the 1:25 Honcho pickup to tuck under the hood, then I'm adding the snowplow from a 1:24 GMC pickup. It won't be exactly right but it'll be so close that nobody but me will be the wiser.
Does Scalemates have a Facebook presence? I hate to keep stealing Ken's thread here to talk about my projects. 😎

Album info
Number 3 of 9 shadow box build.
I have to combine parts from a Boondocker with the Jimbo Jimmy to recreate the Boondocker from my youth. It's coming along very quickly.
