TuAF F4-E 2020 Terminator
Fuselage is almost one piece.
Air duct for canon cooling installed.
I wasn’t happy with round panel lines. I create a template for positions of panels then filled them all.
Rescribed round panels with Hasegawa trytool.
Unfortunately there is a respectable gap to be filled and sanded just below the air intakes.
This is reference picture.
This is what I can replicate.
Nozzles are also done.
Finally wings meet with fuselage.
Front screen tinted with clear green.
Clear parts masked.
Finally ready for primer.
Some little progress.
Primmed with Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 white.
After sanding with 1000 grinds sponge painted with H306 Gray. After that masked for other gray.
I used Vallejo 71.097 first mixed with insignia white 1/2 but it was too lighter. Then I mixed 1/5 and sprayed again. Bu I wasn’t satisfied….
At the third attempt I directly use gunship gray without white. And now I’m happy with the color when I compare it with the reference pictures.
Reference picture of elevator without panel.
I didn’t notice before but these panels don’t exist on that tail number. I should sand and rescribe the panel lines again.
It’s done.
It is not glued yet but final painting for exhausts and tail metal panels.
I should modify these parts according to reference picture.
Stabilisers OK.
Some decals set. I hope decal solution works and decals fit tight otherwise I have to paint walk ways.
And of course it was no good. I sanded and masked for painting.
I added very little H-11 Flat white to XF-85 Rubber Black.
I’m satisfied with result. Final touches will be with some oils later.
Some more decals added but I can say that decals are not good. They’re really thin and they stick immediately on surface. Very difficult to reposition them. Overall I’m not happy with decals so far.
Upper fuselage decals finished. Still I’m not happy with decals quality.
Panel wash completed.
