Look at those horrible rivets n' panel lines from hell. It's a new box but the kit itself hails from 1976...

Thanks! The pilot isn't that good but once in the cockpit it wont be seen as much...

Nice lookin' decals. Not so nice fit on the cockpit hood...

My god! Cant believe that Airfix dares to sell something like that...

Horrible is what it is! Imagine if you're a kid tryin' this one as the very first model! Not a good way to attract new young modellers.

But when you can get your hands on a tamiya or hasegawa after this airfixkit, you will fly in heaven!
23 November 2011, 13:52
Urban Gardini
Yes but how likely is that for a kid with a short attention span?

Holger Kranich
In this case your damn right! I can remember one of my first models had those fittingproblems, too. And my thought was: It must be so... 🙂

What could be classed as a nuisance for a veteran builder is a pure downfall for a beginner.

True words, Urban!

Puh i´m glad, in approx 20 minutes i can finish working and get home to my bench. Will see how far i can get with my FW 190. Tomorrow i must´nt work and i´m going to enjoy a good single malt whilst building!!!🙂

Nice mate! Take one finger for me as well as it's been a loooong time since I had the luxury of a fine Single Malt due to my pain killers that I've got to take way too often.
23 November 2011, 15:51
Holger Kranich
Oh, i feel sorry for that! Hope your fast well again!

I won't be any better in the future as I'm sufferin' from two whiplash injuries in my neck n' a frozen shoulder plus a lot more that makes my day...
24 November 2011, 10:58
Holger Kranich
Oh s..t, that sounds pretty hard! How can you get a frozen shoulder? Do you live in the forest?
25 November 2011, 07:23
Urban Gardini
It's from workin' with various CNC lathes n' mills in the metal industry. The shoulder gave up on me so it's a work related injury.

Bad situation for you! So its time to get retired?🙂
25 November 2011, 08:20
Urban Gardini
Not so easy at my age to retire. So at the moment I'm an unenployed CNC Operator that tries to return to the roots as a seller. I've done ten years as a seller in a sport n' fishing store in the distant past.

So i wish you good luck to make you employed again!

Thanks mate!

Yikes, that sounds nasty! The fit problems of the Airfix kit are nothing compared to that. I've had seven back surgeries, I have a titanium rod in my left femur, and I've survived lymphoma. So I am also quite well acquainted with the pain killers. Couldn't get through the day without them! Good luck to you for improved health!
25 November 2011, 23:45
Urban Gardini
Thanks mate, it looks like you're in worse shape than me so I feel for you...

Bill Gilman
Thanks - every day is a good day if you're above ground!

Urban Gardini
True that or as I said to my girlfriend today. I'm not afraid of dyin', it can't be worse than livin'!
