Tinkering with seats and tail rotors...

Album image #1

Album image #2
Main rotor gearbox and swashplate detail is completely scratch-build, made so that the rotor can still turn

Album image #4
Kit seats have scratch-built armor added.

Album image #5
Original engine exhausts are unusable. New exhaust are from a later Hasegawa kits with some Eduard PE added.

Album image #7
This is the two-part tail rotor from current Hasegawa Apache releases with some scratch-built detail added

Album image #8
The swashplate actuator is still missing (see hole in upper right of the part next to the rotor pylon)

Will be fund painting the assembly in black, green silver, titanium, and yellow

Close to finished, I plan to add Hellfires and a bit of pastel chalk...

Album image #12
The Hasegawa rotor is not very convincing, I guess I'll add the one from the Academy kit later and then do something about blade droop as well.

Looks good when shot from the right angle and distance 😉

Thank you, guys. Next up are the TADS/PNVS turrets, the main rotor, and the tail boom close-out bulkhead with the tail landing gear.

Album info

Airframe is repainted, decaled and sealed with (almost) matte cote, subtle weathering will be done with pastel chalks at a later stage.
Added seat cushions made from the aluminum lid of a cheese tub that had just the right texture. Seat belts were added from thick soft metal foil I found wrapped around the neck of bottle of wine.
The original tail rotor was replaced with one from a more recent kit better resembling the Apache tail rotor which is made of two teetering rotors stacked one atop the other. I Scratchbuilt the swashplate, pitch link rods, and the swashplate actuator assembly which is scabbed onto the tail rotor pylon.
I had done the main rotor gearbox and rotor control assembly back in the 80s. The swashplate is part of the main rotor assembly which is capable of turning within the ring. I think I used an Airfix F-4J nozzle as the main gearbox housing, but it can't be seen on the finished model anyway.
