Kittyhawk progress

Album image #1
First step is cutting off the tail of the plane to replace with the correct one for the Kittyhawk.

Album image #2
Tailplane assembled and ready to glue to the fuselage.

Album image #3
There is a bit of a gap that will have to be adressed later with putty.

Album image #4
THe gun sight was molded in non clear plastic, so it needs some modification. I prepared for a bit of transparent plastic film provided in the Eduard PE set, that will be applied later on.

Album image #5
Some of the cockpit PE parts assembled.

Album image #6
I'm using the Eduard flaps for this build. Here are the parts for the wings.

Album image #7
Some more Eduard detailing for the wheel bays.

Album image #8
I had to drill out the gun barrels with a pin vise drill.

Album image #9
This is a riveting part of the build 😉

Album image #10
All parts for the cockpit painted.

Album image #11
I'm using the Eduard PE parts for attaching the bombs, so there was some filling and sanding to do.

Album image #12
Bad luck! 🙁 The decal sheet had some defects/smearing of the insignias for the propeller. I will have to cut the smearing away during application.

Album image #13
Most of the small details have been finished, including the propeller. The decals came out fine after all 🙂

Album image #14
There was some filling and sanding that needed to be done around the wing roots and wheel bays.

Album image #15
Cockpit is in 🙂

Album image #16
Album image #17
I will put the pilot seat and the gun sight in when the rest of the model is finished.

Album image #18
Flap inserts in the wing are in place.

Album image #19
Also the engine cooling flaps are in place in the open position.

Album image #20
I had to modify the masking a bit as it was made for the hasegawa kit. We will see how it looks when the plane is finished.

Album image #21
I love this azure blue color! 🙂

Album image #22
Top side camoflage finished too.

Album image #23
Ready for a clear coat and decals. 🙂

Album image #24
Decals are on with a protective gloss coat before weathering.

Album image #25
Album image #26
Eduard PE flaps finished and painted along with the wheel bay covers.

Album image #27
The small levers that control the flaps glued into place.

Album image #28
