I thought the armata tank design looked weird, but I've since learned that it supposedly has an unmanned turret. I could have sworn I heard that in a youtube documentary.

Thats right! Armata has an uninhabitable turret. All 3 crew members sitting in armored capsule inside the hull.

As an experiment, the M.A.N company released a limited series of these Panthers, serial numbers 121032-121055.
Summary notes about these machines:
1. Everyone had ordinary gun masks (at least until a photo of a similar Panther with a bearded mask revealed).
2. None of them had flame arresters on the exhaust pipes.
3. Some of them, most likely the last in the series, had a new heating system for the fighting compartment, identified by a high hood above the left fan.
4. The armoring of the exhaust pipe outlet is welded.
5. The bulk of them ended up in the 1st SS Panzer Division LSSAH.
