Album info
Here's another model based on science fiction writer Charlie Stross' series of urban fantasy books, named after "The Laundry", a version of Mi5 which deals with the occult and eldritch horrors from beyond space time. This book series and its fictional universe are informally known as The Laundryverse.
In this scene, the Deep Ones, AKA BLUE HADES, are taking an interest in what is happening on the earth's surface as the stars align and eldritch horrors from beyond space time are becoming more of a nuisance, and the planet's aquatic powers have despatched some diplomats and specialists to discuss options before BLUE HADES takes matters into its own tentacles and simply destroys all land-based life, which frankly they should have done several million years ago.
The band is led by Ramona Random, now fully manifesting her mermaid nature, although still able to pass on land with a powered wheel chair and glamoured gloves. She has brought along a water dragon diplomat, who is quite excitable on her first trip to the surface. She has also brought drowned corpse which is now possessed by a watery deity and has tentacles; now a sociology researcher he has been collaborating with Dr Yoko Suzuki of the Miyamato Group on the behaviour of sea Yokai, on which Suzuki is an expert. They are now talking shop about research methods and in particular the limitations of statistics to capture the behaviour of magical beings. Random's final sub sea companion is a diviner, who is most keen to compare the passages in his oracular book with the heirloom manuscript by Evelyn Starkey.
Much to the surprise of the Laundry it turns out that the Deep Ones maintain a coastal facility off the Cornish coast surrounded by drowned stone circles - the Laundry was perviously only aware of the hidden harbours near the Orkneys. The Deep Ones use a LARC-V amphibious vehicle to shuttle from an undersea portal to a pure white coral holding bay the size of Durham Cathedral which is directly beneath Sancreed in the deep west of Kernow. The LARC V is being driven by new Laundry associate Sandy Wilson, with her husband, the Reverend Peter Wilson, leading on liason with local druids. Iris Carpenter is leading on diplomatic engagement and is delighted to catch up with Ramona again.
