Mike, this kit isn't good choice for pleasant and relaxing modelling. I used a lot of putty. Landing gear very deep, very long landing gear - I reworked them. The cabin is empty. I finished the cockpit of the navigator and the rear gunner. Also completed the nozzle engines. Red stars in kit's decals are small, had to replace them with another set. Red "17" is selfmade. In common detailing and quality of the casting is low. But there aren't so big choice of this iconic Soviet airplane in this scale. My Dad was a technician of IL-28 at the beginning of his career. So I had to have it for my collection.

Thanks Dmitry, I'd never have guessed looking at the photos that you'd had such issues with the kit, which is a testament to your modelling skills. It's a pity it's such a difficult build; I really like the aircraft and would like to build one.

Great work Dmitry!BTW one thing you gotta to know this kit is only priced for less than $4 in China, so you pretty much get what you paid for.

I need to get to China and pick some Trumpeter kits and get back. That kit is going for at least 4X that amount here

@Martin Chen. I agree that 4-6$ is good and fair price for this kit. I got it like a present 🙂 I prefer spend a few dollars more for better kit. However we don't have great choice in this case.

@Szilard I used Vallejo Model Air. I'll check the number later. I liked it. It's perfect for airbrushing.

You turned this poor quality model into nice shelf display .. nice !
question: what is the length of finished model from nose to tail ?

Wow, very nice. This kit's been languishing in the 'build one day' pile for a long time...this might be the inspiration I need to tackle it (and the Part photo etch set to fill out the interior). Bravo!
