Thank you all very much. @Holger, it isn't the Tamiya one for sure, but it goes together rather well and has nice detail, and it cost less than the others, except the Revell A and D models.

another early wolfpack, finished mine a few weeks ago, check it out. BTW VF-1 recieved their first Cats on 1 July 1973 at NAS Miramar, then in September 1974 they embarqued for their first cruise on the USS Enterprise and saw their first combat action in April 1975 during Operation Free Wind, flying cover over Saigon for the evacuation of US personel.
wich decals are you using, i used an italeri sheet.

Thank you all very much.@Germen I am also using an Italeri sheet, left over from my Italeri VF-84 Tomcat. I will also be building one with the Black Lions markings.

watch out then with the ventral fin decals, the fins of the italeri are shorter and higher, better to paint the fin red with the with line and cut out the VF-1 from the decal. For the Black Lions i'm waiting the AMK D because i have the yellowhammer decal sheet from their last cruise.

Yes I realized to late the ventral fin decals did not fit, so they are on, I will trim them when they are dry and touch up as required.

I have 2 sets of Black Lion decals, an A model and ones for a D, they are a Revell sheet from their fist D model release, the one that had all the weapons and other goodies. The decal sheet is VF-2 Bounty Hunters and the Black Lions.

I am going to do a VF-2, VF-213 VF-142, and a VF-31 final cruise D model. I already have a VF-111, VF-31, VF-84 and a VF-1 late markings(Low Vis.) I have also been thinking about doing an aggressor version. I like the Iranian color scheme also, so that one is a possibility also. I have so many Tomcat decal sheets that I am not sure what all I have. There should be a list in my stash. My ultimate plan is to build 1 of each squadron that flew the bird. I guess you could call me a Tomcat and F-4 freak. My 2 favorite aircraft. But what can you expect from a retired swabbie?. LOL.

I always loved the "Wolfpack" markings. It makes the cat more beautiful.

That's a nice looking build. I've seen this kit on the shelves many times and was curious about it. Looks great!

It is not as nice as the Tamiya, Hasegawa or Hobby Boss kits. But it is a nice kit, light years ahead of the Revell/Monogram kit.

It may not be Tamiya's new super kit, but you provided that you don't need one. very nice indeed! and the F-14 is still my favorite.
