Building the Kinetic Sea Harrier FRS.1View: Slideshow Mosaic List 1February 9, 2018Eduard´s prepainted PE makes a big difference and eases work in the cockpit a lot 2February 9, 2018These parts were painted with AK Interactive´s True Metal pastes 3February 9, 2018The pilot painted against the kit instructions, but after recommendations of one who was there. 4February 9, 2018I tried to keep dust from the canopy with this construction 5February 9, 2018After dipping in Klear, the blades were meant to prevent buildup of Klear on the part. 6February 9, 2018The entire kit fits quite well, but not without dryfitting. The cockpit assembly needed quite some work to fit, though. 7February 9, 2018Mating the fuselage halves needed some firm persuasion. 8February 9, 2018I like playing with oil paint on metalized parts. 9February 9, 2018This is a sandwich of PE and the kit part. 10February 9, 2018I was hooked by the serious weapons layout carried by this rather small aircraft. 11February 9, 2018Always great value for money - Eduard´s precut masks. 12February 9, 2018Master´s machined parts are a decided improvement on the kit parts. 13February 9, 2018I used some of my dwindling supply of Parafilm to mask the inside of the canopy. 14February 9, 2018Sadly, all that masking did not prevent paint getting on the main canopy. 15February 9, 2018The stuff is not my taste, despite being a card-carrying Anglophile, but Tom Grigat´s method of using it for chipping does work. 16February 9, 2018The aircraft had been sprayed with automotive primer. 17February 9, 2018The preliminary result of the Marmite chipping. 18February 9, 2018Likewise on the fuel tanks. I did not use these tanks, as the instructions said they were only introduced after Corporate ended. 19February 9, 2018The bomb actually has some nifty preshading, just not in this image. 20February 9, 2018I had clearcoated the aircraft with Humbrol Clear, and found out it does not react well with MicroSol. MicroSet, though, does work. 21February 9, 2018This side had looked as dismal before, after reapplying Humbrol Clear things were warm and fuzzy again. 22February 9, 2018The decal sheet includes virtually all markings options for any Sea Harrier that ever flew, and tons of stencils. 23February 9, 2018Having botched the canopy, I experienced excellent service from Kinetic. Many thanks again! 24February 9, 2018The new canopy, with the det cord painted white with artist´s oils. Better than using the decals in the end.
