Finished! Italeri's 1/72 scale Lockheed X-35 JSF prototype.
The Lockheed X-35 was a competitor to the Boeing X-32, in the USA's JSF trials of the early 20th century. Unlike the X-32, the X-35 followed a more conventional layout of wings and horizontal stabilizers, as opposed to the X-32's delta design.
Unlike the X-32, the prototypes of which were split between the super-sonic X-32A, and the VTOL capable X-32B, the X-35 initial prototype was capable of both VTOL and super-sonic flight.
Following trials and a lengthy political process, the X-35 was declared the winner of the JSF competition, entering service as the F-35 Lightning II. Which in the end ended up being split between the conventional F-35A, and the VTOL F-35B anyway.

First off the fit, which wasn't too bad, at least no worse than the X-32. It did however have several seams/gaps which were significant harder to fill than the ones on the X-32, which are noticeable around the horizontal stabilizers. I did my best wi
