Building this is an extremely bleagh experience. Can someone have a word with Dragon and tell them that making a kit deliberately over-complicated doesn't make it better, just more irritating?

Another interesting coloration. Was this kit molded in that brownish color?

I have the Dragon 1:350 Ohio submarine. It is ok, but there are signs that they didn't put their best ppl to make it so to speak. The upper part is just weirdly placed onto the model I remember. I had to add some styrene to make it work.

Nathan, the kit was molded in the right brown colour for the vehicle I am building, but unfortunately there were far too many marks from where I had cut parts off the sprue, and also some glue marks after putting it together. Because of this I did my best to match the original colour and settled on Vallejo German Red-Brown, which is what I have been using in the airbrush.
Treehugger, The fit has mostly been ok, it's more the pointless complexity that seems to exist merely to inflate the part count.

I always paint the plastic, even it it's the 'right' colour it looks wrong.
Same with brass :/

I didn't paint the plastic on Tamiya T-34-76 and BT-7 I did (because I was just getting back into the hobby) and on the Girls und Panzer Chi-Nu I did (because the plastic was the perfect colour and I didn't think I would be able to get the paint right).

Have you ever considered fixing the small parts to cocktail sticks or kebab skewers and then spraying all round and then skewering the sticks in polystyrene for drying?

Normally if the parts are that small, I paint them on the sprue.

Tools and mounting brackets for side skirts are on, just waiting for paint on side skirts to dry, then I can finish it. 🙂
