I doubted to build this Corsair because I had another project in mind to make ... yet I'm really looking forward to build a former navy jet from the US NAVY. The Corsair is an iconic plane that I have seen in real life on the USS MIDWAY in San Diego ... awesome!

Tonight the cockpit prepared for weathering...! Pretty happy with the result of dry-brushing 🙂

nice start - and will obviously be a build straight from the box. I also have a copy of the Hasegawa A-7 which I want to build OOB so happy to follow your progress!

Yes, Thomas, I'm going to build this straight out of the box ... I only have extra decals to make an A-7E Corsair II from the Blue Blazers!

Welcome Jan and Konrad...👍
@Konrad...this was a deliberate choice, I think the navy fighters from the sixties and seventies in the white / gray version are cool to see, especially the A-7 Corsair ... not that I find the low visibility scheme ugly, but in white / gray these beauties are very authentic.

Yep I fully agree with you Jos! I also have a Corsair and a Crusader in my stash. Will see when their time is coming 😉.
But now I'm enjoying your build here and learn something new.

Man, that's a really nice cockpit straight out of the box and you did it justice! 👍

Thx guys...this Hasegawa kit is nicely detailed so it is not necessary to put all expensive aftermarket stuff in it.

I had the USAF version of this kit and sold it, now I'm regretting it. This is looking great Jos.

Nice selection of paints! I'm jealous, my LHS doesn't stock that broad of a selection.

@Nathan...I would consider buying another navy version ... these gray / white versions are so iconic for the sixties and seventies naval aviation!

I had a small accident with my Corsair, my thin cement jar had fallen over the left wing tip. I could let it dry properly and I tried to engrave the panel lines again. The plastic was reasonably affected and softened ...! I had the intention to fold the wings up, but unfortunately that will no longer work ...🙁

In the background of the photo you can see that I made a holder for my thin cement jar. I should have done this before ...

That was also my first reaction Patrick...! Maciej, I hope that I have done the repair work well ... I can mask it a bit because a US marking is placed on it.

I hate it when I spill that stuff. I have spilled it on a model before also.

I made my ordnance choice for the Corsair, under the wings: 1 x 300 gal fuel tank, 1 x FLIR pod, 2 x AGM-12B 'Bullpup' and 2 x AGM-62A (training), on the fuselage 2 x AIM-9D Sidewinders. I also had the canopy in a bath of Future, they have become really clear and crispy…!

The front canopy was sprayed with Clear Blue X-23 from Tamiya, then the entire canopy was submerged in Future for an extra layer of varnish...
