Album image #1
2019/20: OOB build of the vintage '07 Revell 1/48 kit.

Album image #2
Initial stages of build. This kit was bought from eBay with no box - hopefully it's all there!

Album image #3
Gluing, clamping, forcing, coaxing, etc...

Album image #4
Hand painting detail to cockpit and wheel well - loosely based on reality. I just added colour and highlighted elements so it wasn't all green or red!

Album image #5
Endeavouring to add some tonal variations to inside of exhaust nozzles and detail to cockpit and wheel bays.

Album image #6
Cockpit and engine exhausts - I could have spent much time making correcting the nozzles - but choose not to.

Album image #7
Wheel wells, airbrakes etc all done.

Album image #8
Cockpit more-or-less done. This is all loosely correct(ish).

Album image #9
Adding detail back in on raised panel lines where I had to sand as fit was poor.

Album image #10
I should also have paid more attention to the swivelling missile rack - as mine didn't fit and the spindles that come with the kit are a joke. Going to try and make good with metal rods.

Album image #11
Panel lines shadows.

Album image #12
Now it's blended.

Album image #13
I decided in the end to hand paint over the top of exhausts. You can see some of the tonal variations in the grey, poor lighting doesn't help.

Album image #14
Very happy with rear exhaust effect I achieved, maybe a bit medieval but looks cool! I ended up ruining the fuselage formation lights, but more of that later on...

Album image #15
Album image #16
Humbrol Weathering wash - I'm not a fan of this stuff, but I bought it as it was cheap from a local store.

Album image #17
Decals weren't great - struggled somewhat to get them to sit flat and pull tight regardless of Microsol use.

Album image #18
Pretty happy with these details.

Album image #19
I choose to mask canopy - I usually hand paint. No expensive masking kits here!

Album image #20
Almost there, adding in finishing touches...

Album image #21
And we're done! 🙂

Thanks everso Gary ? I'm a bit heavy handed on the weathering I know and of course the colour/decals are wrong! But I learnt a lot on this build in terms of metallic effects and such. Appreciate your kind feedback ? well chuffed!

Album info

Hi there,

Thanks for stopping by to view my latest build #13 the F101-B Voodoo.

I build straight 'out-of-the-box' endeavouring to show the build journey in as few photographs as possible - this is my reason for utilising montage imagery to help reduce the image count of an album.

This build was uploaded on the 26th August 2021.

I hope that the you find my build journey informative and helpful.
