Thanks, it has been a real challenge but I'm enjoying the heck out of it!

I've started work on my first PE-intensive kit (Industria Mechankia's Sky Mark), but the parts aren't as tiny as you're dealing with here. I'm not sure I could manage if they were. Your Voyager is coming along nicely!

Thank you, who would know I would have to use my soldering skills on model making. It has made some of the parts a million times stronger.

I haven't tried soldering PE yet, but I can see where it would have been beneficial on some of the Sky Mark's assemblies. I should probably practice on some PE fret to learn how to do it.

Awesome, enjoying it so far, may have dropped it from my desk (small work from home space that doubles as hobby space) so one more day before priming!

The best trick I have learned for soldering PE, use flux, lots of it and 99% isopropyl alcohol to clean up the flux. Its very similar to 1206 size surface transistors and resisters. The alcohol breaks down the resin really well so that there is no issue come painting time. I hope lol

The blue base is way to funky and distractive I think. Probably best to paint it matte black. Hm, or how about having a wall mount, without the blue base, but something else, like a black rod or something. Just an idea.

Hey Cheyne. I have the same kit in my stash. I had the idea of using the Gold Record as an base. My kit is still in the box

Both of those are good ideas, I'm more worried about my painting skills but I kept it in two parts, then I do have to figure out what to do with the blue base.

Thank you, it's a slow work in progress and I'm learning as I go.

Q: Did you require special tools for bending the photo etch into that long structure beam?

I used a photo etch bending tool I got on Amazon, but honestly a ruler and a razerblade would probably work fine. As long as the area where the bend it held down well to make the bend, it bent pretty easy. I moved slow and took my time to bend the whole thing a little at a time until it made the triangle.
