I used Slavo's technique described on his Starfighter build to add a little weathering & panel differentiation: Austrian Flag over Japan - F104J Eikó | Album by slavatarko (1:48)
Overall I found this kit to be of indifferent quality - things didn't always fit together well, some sinkholes. I mostly just accepted the kit as it was. However, the markings are great - with a choice of five different subjects.
I built it as Republic of Indonesia Air Force, circa 1962, when Indonesia with Soviet help became the first Asian air force to have a strategic bombing capability. These IL-28 front line bombers were deployed against the Netherlands in support of the (ultimately successful) Indonesian plan to annex Netherlands New Guinea into the country of Indonesia.

The hardest part was masking the nose - the panel lines are barely present, and incorrect! Some of the drawings in the kit are incorrect as well. I ended up working from pictures I had taken of an IL-28 at Berlin Gatow and just kind of winging it. Turned out OK in the end, but it was pretty tough in 1:100 scale, lots of little tiny pieces of tape.
