Album info

Produced in limited numbers by UK based garage kit manufacturer 'Planet X' in the mid 1990's. Kit consisted of resin castings with white metal accessory parts, clear vacform canopy and waterslide decal sheet.
I was able to get hold of three kits - the first built to represent the aircraft in the Clint Eastwood film, the second based on the colours of a Su-35 demonstration aircraft that was doing the rounds in the airshow scene at the time, and a third that I had plans of doing a carrier based version (including folding wings).
I was able to complete the first two projects, but after starting to modify the third airframe I ran out of steam and the project was put aside - the kit eventually being traded with a fellow model maker.
The two aircraft I completed were spray painted using the facilities at the factory where I used to work, and were finished in automotive 2k paints with colours mixed from the PPG paint range.
Please note that the photos showing the unbuilt model are the third airframe after it had been modified for the carrier-based variant, so is not a true representation of the original parts included in the kit.
