Scammell Tank transporter and Matilda tank
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/1/1/5/1064115-23705-33-720.jpg)
Of course just when I made the radiator, Thunder models offered the (right) replacement for free.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/1/1/6/1064116-23705-88-720.jpg)
Bit of extra detailing of the airfilter
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/1/1/7/1064117-23705-65-720.jpg)
yep 🙂
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/1/1/8/1064118-23705-99-720.jpg)
Those Archer transfers come in handy. Also made a water level indicator from scratch
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/1/1/9/1064119-23705-62-720.jpg)
A better step up
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/1/2/0/1064120-23705-56-720.jpg)
With Milliput made some texture on the cushions. I find the wood grain greatly exaggerated.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/1/2/1/1064121-23705-12-720.jpg)
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/1/2/2/1064122-23705-53-720.jpg)
Some extra details on the brakes
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/1/2/3/1064123-23705-87-720.jpg)
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/1/2/4/1064124-23705-49-720.jpg)
Those indespensable Masterclub bolts for better definition
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/1/2/5/1064125-23705-50-720.jpg)
extra details on the firewall
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/1/2/6/1064126-23705-54-720.jpg)
The engine does not need much extra
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/1/2/7/1064127-23705-77-720.jpg)
But a little extra effort makes the difference
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/1/2/8/1064128-23705-29-720.jpg)
I didn't like the supplied curtains. Made some from a wine bottle capsule. Looks like we gonna have a puppet show 🙂
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/1/2/9/1064129-23705-99-720.jpg)
I find the supplied instrument panel to flat. Tried the Yahoo IP and found this also to flat and way to small. A little scratchbuilding created much more depth.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/1/3/3/1064133-23705-73-720.jpg)
Those Macro pictures show every flaw. At a normal viewing distance it looks allright to me
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/1/3/0/1064130-23705-56-720.jpg)
After painting the engine I'm not completely satisfied, but it'l have to do 🙁
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/1/3/1/1064131-23705-40-720.jpg)
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/1/3/2/1064132-23705-19-720.jpg)
Put a little light on..........
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/1/3/4/1064134-23705-16-720.jpg)
Here you can show of a lot of interesting details. The fittings for the hose joints and the pressure lines are from Top-Studio. I detailed the (5th wheel?) with Master Club nuts and bolts.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/1/3/5/1064135-23705-87-pristine.jpg)
I used 1:24 scale Top Studio hose joints. Neat stuff
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/1/3/9/1064139-23705-71-720.jpg)
Made a start with the trailer and some extra detailing on the brake system.
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/1/4/0/1064140-23705-65-720.jpg)
And again those Top Studio fittings come in handy.
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/1/3/8/1064138-23705-35-720.jpg)
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/1/4/2/1064142-23705-62-720.jpg)
Main brake line and Top Studio fittings.
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/1/4/1/1064141-23705-98-720.jpg)
The Thunder Model etchings are very thin and flimsy. It's a chore working with them.
I preferred to make new racks with Evergreen styreen. A bit sturdier and good definition.

![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/1/4/3/1064143-23705-46-720.jpg)
Looks the part 🙂
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/1/4/4/1064144-23705-95-720.jpg)
Some extra details.
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/1/4/6/1064146-23705-88-720.jpg)
All it takes is some stock styreen for a pair of mudflaps, license plate and taillight.
I also ordered Set A153 (Tank transporter Strainer & Shackle set WW2/post war) from Accurate Armour.

🙂
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/1/4/7/1064147-23705-70-720.jpg)
Detailing the toolbox. For the rivets I used Archer transfers.
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/1/4/8/1064148-23705-66-pristine.jpg)
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/1/4/9/1064149-23705-10-720.jpg)

![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/1/5/1/1064151-23705-20-pristine.jpg)
I'm satisfied 🙂
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/4/7/3/1081473-23705-32-720.jpg)
Again some steps further, but still a lot of small stuff to do
![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/4/7/4/1081474-23705-58-720.jpg)
Hmmm.....I should have placed the wheels on their flat spots. The gate for the storage space is made from Evergreen Styreen.
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/4/7/5/1081475-23705-79-720.jpg)
![Album image #39 Album image #39](/albums/img/4/7/6/1081476-23705-60-720.jpg)

![Album image #41 Album image #41](/albums/img/4/7/8/1081478-23705-37-720.jpg)
I do like the instrument panel 🙂
![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/4/7/9/1081479-23705-73-720.jpg)
I can't remember the brand of the fire extinguishers but like them very much.
![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/4/8/0/1081480-23705-68-720.jpg)
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/9/5/9/1235959-23705-72-720.jpg)
![Album image #45 Album image #45](/albums/img/9/6/0/1235960-23705-40-720.jpg)
Detailing the auxiliary tank.
![Album image #46 Album image #46](/albums/img/9/6/6/1235966-23705-23-720.jpg)
Barely visible are the exhaust pipes going into the engine deck.
![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/9/6/1/1235961-23705-44-720.jpg)
Also here replaced the countersunk screws. And yes, I spilled thin cement over the deck 🙁 . Luckily the damage is limited.
![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/9/6/2/1235962-23705-41-720.jpg)
Fire extinguisher handles placed
![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/9/6/3/1235963-23705-56-720.jpg)
As with many older Tamiya kits there are these ugly gaps. But nothing what a little styreen can't cover up.
![Album image #50 Album image #50](/albums/img/9/6/4/1235964-23705-50-720.jpg)
The same here. You can spot the metal towing eyes under the auxiliary tank.
![Album image #51 Album image #51](/albums/img/9/6/8/1235968-23705-33-720.jpg)
Again the Master Club nuts & bolts provide extra detail.
![Album image #52 Album image #52](/albums/img/9/7/2/1235972-23705-11-pristine.jpg)
![Album image #53 Album image #53](/albums/img/9/7/1/1235971-23705-48-pristine.jpg)
Extra details on the butt side 🙂
![Album image #54 Album image #54](/albums/img/9/6/5/1235965-23705-70-720.jpg)
Eduard etchings placed
![Album image #55 Album image #55](/albums/img/9/6/7/1235967-23705-43-720.jpg)
And more Eduard etchings.
![Album image #56 Album image #56](/albums/img/9/6/9/1235969-23705-55-720.jpg)
Remarkable that the smoke grenade launchers are made from shortened Enfield rifles.
![Album image #57 Album image #57](/albums/img/9/7/0/1235970-23705-51-720.jpg)
Belts from thin lead. The towing cables are home made from three strands of twisted copper wire.
![Album image #58 Album image #58](/albums/img/4/8/1/1081481-23705-28-720.jpg)
And then I totally forgot to take pictures of the painting proces. I think it came out rather nice but a tat to dark. Well, it just has to be like this.
It was a lot of work but I managed to angle the front terrain wheels. And it needs a flat coat. But....where did I leave the tracks??

„Not completely satisfied with the engine……" I had to look twice to distinguish it from a real one ( pic 17). Outstanding !

Hanno, it's several years ago that I painted the engine en just yesterday I posted the pictures. With my knowledge of today (oil paint rendering), and the pictures from other builders, I would have taken more time and effort in painting the engine.
But thank you all for the compliments 🙂

Nice additions, Lex. I recently added a book I bought about the Scammell (I will be towing a Valentine I think), what do you use as reference?

Hi Steven,
I used mainly the Internet.
There are of course the walk-arounds and also the sites with restorations give a lot of information and details.
On Youtube you can take a look at the link below what tells you how the winch system works and give you even more details. There are 3 more in this serie about this subject.

Just my kind of superdetailling. Count me in. Can you disclose which colors you used for the Mickey Mouse camouflage?

Michael; for the black I used Tamiya XF-69 Nato Black.
The green is a mixture of 75% Tamiya XF-13 J.A.Green and 25% Tamiya XF-51 Khaki Drab.

Lex, I was planning to do the same with the oil filter, but I wanted to reduce the diameter because the kit part seems off with the pictures I compare with. Great work, I don't know if I can approach this level...

Michael, my pleasure.
Steven, looking at your albums you make great models. for me you are definitely able to make something beautiful out of it 🙂.
About the oil filter; As an example I used one of the photos from the link below. I personally think that the oil filter of the model has the right dimensions.
primeportal.net/truc..en/scammell_walk.htm
But there are different types of oil filter used.

Album info
The intention is to depict a scene somewhere in the East Midlands (have to decide a bit more precise where exactly) where a Scammell is salvage a Matilda tank with bad luck.
