U2 Russian Winter Ambulance
....this fella took a hit and the wing flew off when a golf club handle fell on it...remind me to keep these two silly pastimes separate....
....anyway, instead of just rebuilding and re-rigging wing eyelets like last time, i will try to make lemonade and try out the newly arrived Wire Stretchers and connections in 1/48 scale from Eduard....most all the connections for the rigging will be redone and new rigging run....

....these new struts are cool...they will never be as clean as a good styrene piece...otoh, they are much stronger and more flexible.
According to the manufacturer, all that is needed is a bit of primer...so, after a cleaning with denatured alcohol to get any oil off the pieces, they get painted...
...the website of the manufacturer has many new pieces added each year...however, the website was designed by Fred Flintstone at the Stone Quarry in his spare time.....can you say old?....sure you can....links to nothing, etc...but, lots of landing gear!

...the metal struts on the inside are in place.....many lines to run
....all done....and it is one funky result...but, its on the shelf again.....and, finally, the model repair box is empty....

Thank you.....for complicated reasons, this model, finished in June 2020, never made it into the latest iteration of Scalemates...it was fun and pushed my rigging window for sure.

The wing struts just took too many hits in this process and all need to be replaced....it didn't work to attach them...…metal struts from Scale Aircraft Conversions may be the answer....so, while that waits to get here...this bird will be set aside....

Great aircraft again, you have a good taste for choosing exotic aircraft out of the mainstream 👍

...off this repair goes with Scale Aircraft Conversions metal struts, Eduard wires and stretchers and white rigging (left over from the days of wingnut wings)....

You have the patience of a saint, and the results look(ed) great. Good luck with the re-build 🙂

It is "fixed"....but shows the results of multiple gluing and other outrages....
The only remaining copy of this kit in 1/48 scale in the known universe, may be here at the model cave.....this one might just get redone....it is one of my favorite subjects, for sure.
ICM did issue this in 1/72 scale and it is widely available.

I have it in 1:72, but am not sure of the manufacturer (everything is in russian). Interestingly, the ambulance pods are mounted on the upper side of the lower wing on mine, but yours are under-slung. I'm not sure I'd like to be taking a trip in one, either way!
