During the Battle of Midway, two of the prototypes for the new IJN dive bomber were used in the reconnaissance role. These were part of Soryu's air group and were lost along with the carrier.
Parts from the AZ Model kit were used, combined with some decals from the Fujimi kit. The hinomarus, fuselage bands and the yellow wing edges were painted using an airbrush.
