F-102 Monogram Pro Modeler issue
Comments
It's a build or two back. I'm doing a nice, simple OD Monogram P-47D to recover from doing nmf. Of course I couldn't leave well enough alone and am trying to shove a resin cockpit meant for the Hasegawa into it, which is taking longer than it should.
I've stopped acquiring things like resin cockpits and pe but I still have a bunch in my stash from before when I figured out they didn't give me a lot of joy 🙄
Yep, same here. I had this resin pit lying around and had no intention of using it but had already cut off the kit cockpit locating pins years ago, so I thought "why not?" Now I am remembering why not!
I'm just thankful I spend more time building than buying now. Slowed down over the summer but as it gets cooler I'm at the bench more.
Yeah, I didn't buy for years, then I started getting a few recently. This place isn't helping with that, haha.
Album info
Tackling this beast. I'm going to rescribe and have already been sanding (and sanding, and sanding) due to the fit issues. Pretty much OOB, but I couldn't resist the anti-collision lights. Probably snag a brass pitot later because the kit one is not good at all.
This is probably Monogram's worst of the Century Series in terms of fit issues. The intakes alone are a lot of work to get looking presentable and I actually started on those, figuring if I can't make those look good, then the rest is going to be a waste of time. They're looking OK so far 👍
I plan to go with the stylized eagle scheme of the Connecticut ANG from the kit decals because it looks cool, but am grabbing the rest of the markings from Caracal because, well, Monogram decals. May end up copying the eagle decal and tracing/masking if the kit decals don't work, they're pretty old.
I'll end up doing the Pennsy ANG bird from the Caracal sheet later because hey, also cool.
This will be updated infrequently (sorry) because I leave this kit often to take a break (intakes alone fried my brain) and do another, easier build, then come back to it.
