Bf 109G-10 Mtt Regensburg (WIP)
10:00 AM: Starting the 24hour marathon
Starting with the wings to try to solidify the gear as early as possible
Closing the wings
The cockpit with the PE
Side walls painted and with PE
Progress
Wings ready with the landing gear glued - the gear fit is, as usual, terrible
Cockpit and fuselage ready to close
All parts so far
Closing the kit
Moving forward with the assembly
Starting the paint with the bottom, using AK Xtreme Aluminium
Marathon during the night
RLM colors using Hataka paints
Bottom painted with Hataka RLM76
Well, that’s a surprise: I used the panel lines as guides incorrectly, the proportions are wrong; repaint to be done
Correcting the checker bands
Progress so far; used Gunze RLM23 (H414) for the red color
That’s a wrap; after 22,5 hours, at 08:30 AM, it is obvious I’ll not finish the kit
The build so far, to be continued at home
Back at home; all decals applied, wheels painted and plane varnished with the faithful Tamiya X-22, ready for pin washes; an additional 2 hours spent
Chipping done and more X-22 varnish; now, for those washes…
Oils applied (Abteilung 502 grey for drybrush on the cockpit and Oilbrushers A.MIG 3508, 3512 and 3532 for mud and filth); Tamiya X-19 Smoke and MRP-180 Exhaust Soot also applied
Finished, around 27hours later, instead of my objective of 24hours... maybe next time! 🙂 Final photos here: Bf 109G-10 Mtt Regensburg | Album by RReis (1:48)
