Bell X-2
Center seam sanded
Trailing edge of the rudder thinned sharp.
Some ugly distorted panel detail...
...now replaced with a round panel line. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECTANGLE!
Canopy's fit was semi bad, so I'm trying to smooth it with putty and sanding.
Thin styrene sheet into landing gear bays.
Sprue damage on the wing's leading edge
Filed the hole bigger and filled with styrene.
I wanted to add some details into the engine.
Wings and elevators added!
I wasn't happy with wing skids due their seam lines so I remade them. Here is a jig.
New skid made using the jig.
Landing gears are not glued, but they are being assembled.
Shortening nose gear
New air data probe
Landing gears done waiting for painting
Painting will be a bit more complicated because I want some steel chipping.
I applied AK Interactive True Metal Steel wax on various surfaces.
Rocket engine is painted with Vallejo paints using airbrush.
Like in Parcivale, white Mr.Surface 1500 with help of Gunze's Leveling thinner
Other colors painted...
...And disaster!
More disasters! Chipping fluid did not work so I had to scratch chips physically. Then I dropped the model...
Survived from dropping and chipping so now is the moment for decals.
Rest of decals added. Btw decals were numbered a bit wrong.
Undercarriage added
Varnish added and masks removed. I call this done!

Watching for sure! I gave up finishing Mach 2 Bell X-2 some time ago...

Welcome, Finn and Podkon! I guess this could be easier than Mach 2 kit, but still not easy kit.

Really good work, S M! Makes me think about taking this kit onto the bench... 😉

Thanks, Podkon! The kit required some work, but in the end it is very simple and lets you make some improvements.

Very very nice! Your decision to go for a battered look, with the chipping, really adds a lot of dramatic effect - congrats! 👍

Hi S M, agreed... Superb indeed! And a highly interesting full build album. Great work on rescuing the odd minor disaster also, I frequently encounter them too. Usually caused by myself 😂👍

Thanks, Neil! 😄 Disasters are irritating, but luckily my disasters have been reparable. Also the risk is high because I like to experiment something with my models.
