While these are Old kits it will give a chance to practice actual modelling skills in stead of only assembly skills.
Given the subject of VC winners I hope I do them justice

My attempt to deal with raise rivets and pre shading in one. Light sanding of the kit to remove some of the primer and fingers crossed once painted the shading will still be visible

First time using masking putty and I'm not sure. Found it hard to get the putty to stay in place initially, so we'll see how well it works.

I really like the effect you got by sanding to flatten the rivets and pressed in one go. I think as long as you're conservative with the paint layers you should work well. I my give it a go on my next project. Also, interesting to hear about the difficulty with the masking putty. I also have found masking for camo a hassle so I just did it free hand for the Hurricane I did last year and it turned out well and most importantly I enjoyed the freehand spraying much better. I thought it would be a disaster at 1:72, but it turned out well.

That technique looks very effective on all counts. I see myself using it in the near future (most of my kits are of this vintage))

Using any marking masks is always a fingers crossed moment for me, have I used the right colour at the right time etc. time will tell once all the tape comes off

I'm watching this! The technique with the rivets is very good. I will try it.

Cheers.
For a first attempt I'm pleased but think I can go further on the sanding on next model
