Pe-2FT by MisterCraft build log

Album image #1
All the contents.

Album image #2
I wonder whose molds Mr Craft is using?

Album image #3
The mold details are good and crisp with no obvious flash.

Album image #4
Panel lines are raised, but the detail looks good.

Album image #5
Clear parts are clear.

Album image #6
The provided decals are well off register.

Album image #7
The Bilek decals allow for a 1944 variant in a winter dressing, which I am busy researching. I think they were based in Poland with Russian markings, and would of been the white paint that wears very easily exposing the green below (like in the project cover picture).

Album image #8
Some new tools that I am eager to try out.

Album image #9
I've seen worse loose fits.

Album image #10
The wheel well is rather bare and the inner plate doesn't sit deep enough. Some scratch work is called for.

Album image #11
I am trying sculpting clay to form some depth. It will take 24 to 48 hours to dry, and I hope to sand it flat and cut out the hole in the plates to form the wheel well relief.

Album image #12
The wheel wells are now much more believable.

Album image #13
So far the self drying clay looks to be working out, so I have used it to create some closure to the wing tip inlets. It easily squeezes between the wing halves, and then poked through with a toothpick.

Album image #14
Some major surgery to the fuselage bottom. I want to pose the crew hatches in open position.

Album image #15
I am happy with this level of detail for the scale.

Album image #16
It is the cockpit entry hatch on the belly.

Album image #17
Some progress on the cockpit floor. It is visible from the top and the bottom, so hopefully the effort is worth it.

Album image #18
And some side wall details. I invented an electrical cupboard to cover the molding of the wing spar ?

Album image #19
I feel this is enough scratch building for the main cockpit. Onto the rear gunners position.

Album image #20
The void ope is a bit complex to form from styrene, so I am trying the self drying clay again.

Thanks Tyson. Careful now. Cheapness and OCD are both very contagious 😂. Your ship work is gorgeus.

Michael, many thanks for the kind words on my ship builds 🙂
As for the OCD and scrounging for parts, I'm afraid it's too late on both counts 😉

Lots of detail created. Nice progress.

I like how you pick unusual subjects to make a model on, I would much rather make some strange German ww2 aircraft than a 109

Any progress on this kit recently? I am impressed with the self-drying clay, it works well.

Album info

I am stepping out a bit on this €8 budget kit with €3 aftermarket decals. I ran away from some scribing practice on a "BigModel" kit, which was too terrible, even for me... This one will do nicely. Also planned is a distressed winter camo scheme and some interior scratch building.
