Hidden Sherman

Album image #1
This is all there was in the bag of Sherman parts. No name, no instructions, no decals.
Thank you Scalemates for downloadable instruction sheets!

Album image #2
Easy build - not many wheels!

Album image #3
That's the Sherman done in an hour or so.
Trying to get some sag in the rubber-band tracks using superglue and bits of sprue.
Painting next.

Album image #4
The workshop is just one big chunk of resin.
Nicely moulded, but the thick roof makes it seem more like a U-boat pen after a Tallboy hit it ...

Album image #5
Concealed the 3-ft thick roof with some random debris scrounged from around the house.

Album image #6
Did the brickwork and drilled out the moulded bullet holes in the door...

Album image #7
Added some signage. Who knew the General's family had such rustic origins! No wonder he was pissed at the Nazis.

Album image #8
Trawled through the internet and printed out a mini-sheet of decals.
Predictably, cocked up the 1st attempt which came out back to front.
Yes, I know one little mouse is bigger than the others.

Album image #9
Decals and shading ...

Album image #10
Finished off with a little mud.
BTW, I messed up here. The '123' and the mouse should change places.

Album image #11
Made a start on the base.

Album image #12
Plasticine and sand for landscaping.

Album image #13
Added a little greenery.

Album image #14
Made a puddle with some 2-part resin.

Album image #15
Painted the ground brown.

Album image #16
Added some grass. This is the front of the building ...

Album image #17
... and this is the back!

Thank you!
I hope the tank comes out well, I have no reference for the decals as yet.

Nice work, I really like your comment about the thickness of the roof 😄 You resolved the issue very nicely 🙂

Yes, it's a lovely casting, but perhaps they should have provided seperate roof parts in thin plastic.

Album info

A diorama with a vintage Airfix 1/76 Sherman MkII and a 'Ruined European Workshop', also from Airfix.
The base is a cardboard stiffener from an Amazon DVD mailer, and the landscaping is mainly a lump of Plasticine modelling clay that came with my new airconditioner (!).

BTW, I did the 'Crouching Tiger' earlier ...
