I believe this is the only way to get a modern, accurate EE Lightning (until Airfix releases their new kit). As usual, Trumpeter made a beautifully molded kit with several serious accuracy mistakes!

I know I'm looking forward to it. This will be first time I've tried Alclad II metal finishes. Need to finish my Hurricane and Mustang projects first, I expect to start the Lightning in early December.

I think the belly fuel tank is too bulbous on the Trumpeter kit - does anyone know of a resin replacement?

I found a resin belly tank from Heritage Models in the UK. Ordered and on its way! By the time I get done, the model will only be 50% Trumpeter!

Well, the Heritage Models belly tank has arrived, but it is not quite up to the quality that you see with Aires, etc. The panel lines are quite ragged, so they will need to be filled and rescribed. But it looks to be a much better size then the one that comes with the kit, which is much too large. I can work with it.
