Avianca Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

A good friend of mine got his first overseas job assignment traveling to Colombia by Avianca airlines. He was very impressed by the size and functionality of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in which he flew, so I made this model for him. My kit of choice was a Zvezda box that I had sitting around for other project. I assembled the kit straight OOB but to my surprise Avianca’s fleet consists of 787-8 models although photographs clearly show details lacking from the kit that I had to scratchbuilt (engine winglets and antennas). Because It is a quite large model, I decided to make a “flying” representation. Even though the model is entirely painted in white, most of the time was spent painting and fitting the decals. It was an easy build with a good fit but the kit had some sink marks and is a heavy tailsitter. Not my best work, but it was a welcome break from military subjects!
