Macchi M.39
Winner of 1926 Schneider Trophy

The SBS Macchi M.39 in 1/48 is a beautiful resin kit with fit and finish that rival any good injection molded kit. It comes with brass pontoon supports, PE, canopy masks, and cartograph decals. Moreover, the box art is fantastic, the instructions are clear, and the color painting guide on glossy paper is a touch of class. The no. 5 aircraft is a 1926 Schneider Trophy winner and historically significant. I used Tamiya Italian Red laquer and Alclad Aquagloss clear, as well as 1,000 & 3,000 grit sanding and polishing paste to get a deep gloss finish. The rigging cables are 0.3 mm steel spring wire painted red and cut to size.
