I 'm a retired Belgian Air Force pilot and I have been building plastic models since the age of seven.
With plastic models, I don't aim to achieve the ultimate scale model as I have done that plenty with R/C flying scale models, even winning World Championship titles, see: avonds.com/World%20champion.htm
My competition successes in the hobby of the R/C flying scale models encouraged me to start a business back in 1987: Philip Avonds Scale Jets. The business was stopped end of March 2023 but my website with my old product range is still active: avonds.com
My collections of R/C kits, engines and transmitters are shown on the same website, together with some more personal info.
Plastic modeling is purely a hobby for me. My main interests are post war Belgian Air Force, Cold War jets, helicopters and SABENA airliners.
I don't go far into detailing, my aim is to have nice renditions of the subjects in my display cabinets, so my builds look rather hurried, compared to some of the masterpieces shown here on Scalemates...
I joined this community at first because I was looking for a way to get my stash organized. The stash manager is a great tool and I'm happy that I discovered its existence (through Britmodeller).
Once my stash and some kits (missing in the database) were uploaded, I decided to upload all my built models and some of my projects. It's been great fun and a what a joy to receive such a warm welcome!
Even the oldest still surviving models are uploaded (40+ years), so don't be surprised to see very poor quality models amongst more recent reasonable efforts. The most sophisticated examples are mostly from my son Bert, whose models are also displayed in my cabinet.
