Tamiya know there bike's 👍👍 l did the NRS-500 it had a see through fairing, So l did an oval area unpainted to see engine.

Finally finished the exhaust. For this kit it was a bit tricky, because of Tamiya provides a bit different way of assembling it (in my opinion is not very successful).

I noticed pistons in the block
a detail I haven't seen on a kit before
and not at the same hight as is correct so heads could be left of and the build would still be correct
The machineing for the valves is also a fantastic detail
Very cool kit with options I haven't seen before
Great kit I will have to look for it

The block and valves did not come with this kit. I had them in my parts box. I wish I knew where it came from, but I have no idea. I can tell you that the block and valve heads were black and the oil pan was clear.

Lot of the older AMT/MPC kits came with separate cylinder head and valves. Just checked a few kits in the stash and the 1970 Super Bee and 1970 Baldwin Motion Camaro have that detailed engine.

I got 2 fugimi garage kits
Just got to get a few kits with tool boxes and stuff like that
I will have to have a look in some of my amt and mpc kit for that detail

None which has the cool detail of showing the pistons in the block
But I did find a impala kit which has a crank shaft
And also shows the rockers

Sorry Bob I had a look at the Baldwin camaro kit
Just looked at a few reviews
I was thinking if thay made a kit pree chist thay probably wouldn't change much
In the next few thousand of years
The early kits were about 2000
The kit does have rockers showing in the heads
And yes you can see what resembles pistons
But all at the same level of the bore
And the 2 pistons on each end of the block on both sides
Have lining up blocks across them
The latest kit in that family still has those details
In the case of the block D Hadley is uesing
The pistons are at different levels and there is nothing over the pistons
Further more the pistons are machined for the valve clearance

Starting stronger since the A350 catastrophe. Cockpit sub assembled with the Eduard Detail set, painted and weathered. Couldnt take more pictures of the progress due to the details being so small 🥴🥴

Hey MrD thanks! Well Im sorry I can't help you with that because I used the photo etched and plastic instrumentation provided by the kit from Eduard. Sure someone with more experience with Tamiya decals can help you with that in here.

Belts come out nice, do you glue PE direct to plastic or do you have to prep first ?

I use cyanoacrylate for the PE parts, just a little amount sticks okay, although at this scale there's some parts that are way to hard to make them stick and my not so skilled application of the glue leaves a lot of residue on the model. I try to clean up the best I can but it's quite challenging sometimes

If you want to build a good looking cockpit with the extra detail I recommend you the PE for sure. But if your main goal is the exterior and not to focus so much on the interior the PE kit doesn't include a lot of things for the exterior, and the tamiya kit I think gives a really nice looking base cockpit

With half the plane chipped, I'm leaving for the week. There's still a lot of work to do regarding chipping and weathering to blend the paints. I'm having so much fun, and applying new technics for me that I'm sure I'll use in future models.

Chipping and decals done. I'm sure this chipping is not going to be of the liking of many, but I wanted to try different techniques and achieve a heavy worked on plane who could not get a paint job in a lot of time. I really like the result I achieved, even though it may seem extreme, I think it adds a lot of personality to the model, and also adds some history to it. Let me know your opinions on this and what would you have done differently with this chipping process

It fine, I've seen much heavier worked model than this..?
In reality they looked beat up from war n work... Especially the Corsair.
Best to build a model to how you like it.
I put all my models on a stand with wheels down , some people will cringe at that.🤣 But l like it personally, as l see more of the work I've done.
I'm yet to start wearing.... As quiet new to the game and learnt.
I think you done nice job, well done 👌 👍👍👍

Welcome Dutch! This build is turning into a slog. Clamps and super-glue "force-holds" galore. Luckily it is a tiny plane so I'm nearly done already, just completing all the seam sanding.

Working on the cowl. I had to use 2-part epoxy clay to fill a large gap on the bottom of the cowl that was created by making the cowl fit straight & level.

Thanks Dutch! Today I masked off the areas for the gloss black. The tan colored areas are quite small, but they're everywhere. Tamiya tape stock is going up!!

Well my gloss black was solidified, so flat black will have to do. Hopefully it will all even out when the clear is applied

Well that was a whole bunch of masking for some very tiny pixels… I also added a coat of Future to help with the panel lining effort to come.

Today has seen the underside color selected and applied (Tamiya X-14 Sky Blue) along with masking/painting the cowl colors using Steel & Red.

I'm using both AK & Mig panel wash. For the bottom I used Grey-Blue and for the top I haven't decided whether I'll use a dark brown or black wash. Of course for the black areas I'll use the Stone Grey wash which I think is Mig.
