I apologize to any whom have messaged me at my Scalemates account over the past couple of years. A LOT has happened in the past 2 years, far more than would be reasonable to share here, so I will leave it at that.

I haven't left the hobby or anything like that but I am working on legally changing my name & I didn't think I could change info like that on Scalemates until it was too late. I had already created a new account & moved everything over to there. In the meantime I have not discarded this account because it has two purposes.

First, I contributed a significant amount to Scalemates over the years & therefore I have a few more tools which I can use to to work on the site. Second, you will note, that although I'm well known as a 1:72 & 1:144 builder but that this account now has only 1:48 subjects listed.

This second reason deserves a brief explanation. Last year C19 rendered my son legally blind & although he says he hasn't given up model building he's barely looked twice at his 1:72 model aircraft kits.

He's already stated that he won't build biplanes or try to tackle vacuform models as he'd initially planned. This has resulted in a lot of kits given to him from my stash or bought specifically for him to no longer have a place. With his armor it's a little different.

He can at least manage with them (mostly) without assistance when they're OLD 1:35th scale model kits. However he'd spent the last several years purchasing some of the best & newest 1:35th scale armor kits which means they have fine detail & countless parts too small for him to even see clearly any longer. I'm at a loss to figure out what to do about his issue with the good quality armor kits he has since many of them have no older contemporaries...

However, this gave me the thought regarding his model aircraft: Perhaps he would be able to build OLD or simple 1:48 scale aircraft model kits? Thus I started creating a hypothetical wish list while also accounting for 1:48 kits that managed to land in his stash one way or another. Even if he does decide to switch to 1:48 scale many older kits had nice detail even without having hundreds of parts & some fairly modern kits don't delve into microscopic parts the way that some 1:72 kits do.

The fact that Scalemates often has the instructions of model kits is a lifesaver for him too as it allows him to zoom in so that he can see what parts are which & where they're supposed to be.

Thus while this is a genuine stash & wish list it is still unconfirmed if my son will decide to liquidate his 1:72 stash to then turn around & purchase a smaller number of much older 1:48 model kits which he might be able to build with less dependence on his old Dad.
