Me 262 B-1
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/9/5/8/1753958-26091-43-720.jpg)
New brush christened, as I want to try to bring out the instrument panel gauges.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/9/5/9/1753959-26091-90-720.jpg)
Basic colours laid down before assembly.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/9/6/0/1753960-26091-14-720.jpg)
Busy cockpit looking okay so far.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/9/6/1/1753961-26091-99-720.jpg)
Some cockpit colour added, to frame the grey instrument panels.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/9/6/7/1753967-26091-57-720.jpg)
The co-pilot's office is looking very empty.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/9/6/2/1753962-26091-84-720.jpg)
The co-pilot's office was empty, so I faked some panels with tape, and the tip of a cocktail stick was used for the dots/switches. Now it looks more purposeful.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/9/6/6/1753966-26091-23-720.jpg)
Still looking too bland....
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/9/6/5/1753965-26091-43-720.jpg)
So, a few brightly-coloured knobs and switches added, to catch the eye. I've since also added knobs to the two boxes, at the sides.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/6/1/0/1757610-26091-90-720.jpg)
Fuselage closed up, with lead in the nose.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/6/1/1/1757611-26091-14-720.jpg)
Central section of the wings added.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/6/1/2/1757612-26091-27-720.jpg)
Filler on the joins, and rubbing smooth started.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/6/1/3/1757613-26091-97-720.jpg)
Wings to be added next.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/7/7/3/1757773-26091-64-720.jpg)
Starting to take shape....bare plastic and some filler, and now primer too, so far.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/7/7/4/1757774-26091-42-720.jpg)
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/7/7/5/1757775-26091-13-720.jpg)
....and now some light blue-grey to the undersides.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/7/7/6/1757776-26091-34-720.jpg)
I'll have mask the upper sides before adding the next colour, but everything has to thoroughly dry first.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/7/7/7/1757777-26091-18-720.jpg)
Started on the small parts too.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/7/7/8/1757778-26091-31-720.jpg)
Masking tape harnesses. Should be okay when the canopy is on.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/3/5/0/1758350-26091-55-720.jpg)
Areas marked out with masking tape. Dark green first...
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/3/5/2/1758352-26091-86-720.jpg)
Dark green brushed on, two coats.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/3/5/1/1758351-26091-16-720.jpg)
Hmmm....violet brown? A mix of blue and red perhaps?
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/3/5/3/1758353-26091-83-720.jpg)
Bold! But definitely a strong violet, I guess....
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/3/5/4/1758354-26091-93-720.jpg)
Hmm... Definitely needs to be more brown.
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/3/5/5/1758355-26091-89-720.jpg)
Soft mottling of green to sides, and onto the violet too, next.
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/3/5/6/1758356-26091-18-720.jpg)
Mottling done, but the violet was too strong. So, a dilute coat of dark brown over the violet has been added. Much better 🙂
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/3/5/7/1758357-26091-86-720.jpg)
I think that's it til it all dries, then I'll gently sand down any edges, where the paint built up at the edges of the masking tape.
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/4/1/6/1758416-26091-64-720.jpg)
A gentle tickle with a very fine sand-paper has evened out most of the paint ridges, and also emphasised the raised panel lines. I'll touch in where the primer is shining through too much before applying a gloss coat.
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/7/3/1/1759731-26091-22-720.jpg)
Decals being added, after a gloss coat. Just some stencils to add, plus signs on the front of the engines.
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/7/3/2/1759732-26091-27-720.jpg)
I should have rubbed the paint ridges down more. Next time....
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/7/3/3/1759733-26091-46-720.jpg)
Soo tricky to centre the decals on circular features - they disappear as soon as they are wetted 🙁 That filler joint should have been better too..... I may re-visit it, and tidy up the paint above the wing root too. I'll have to progress the canopy soon, too.....
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/8/4/8/1759848-26091-63-720.jpg)
Red dotted lines added.
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/5/1/1/1771511-26091-44-720.jpg)
So, decals all done, undercarriage installed, pitot and aerials added. Oh, and the canopy painted (loose fitted for now).
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/5/1/2/1771512-26091-63-720.jpg)
Definitely not a nose-sitter. I've added hub caps to each wheel, glued to the protruding ends of the axles. Tidier appearance, and the wheels still rotate
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/5/1/3/1771513-26091-78-720.jpg)
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/5/1/4/1771514-26091-77-720.jpg)
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/5/1/5/1771515-26091-16-720.jpg)
![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/5/1/6/1771516-26091-48-720.jpg)
Last peep inside the cock-pit.
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/5/1/7/1771517-26091-92-720.jpg)
The canopy can now be fixed, with white glue.
![Album image #39 Album image #39](/albums/img/2/8/3/1776283-26091-84-720.jpg)
Aerial wires added, with stretched sprie.
![Album image #40 Album image #40](/albums/img/2/8/4/1776284-26091-66-720.jpg)
Hmmm....the angle of the undercarriage looks wrong 🙁
![Album image #41 Album image #41](/albums/img/2/8/5/1776285-26091-11-720.jpg)
![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/2/8/6/1776286-26091-26-720.jpg)
![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/2/8/7/1776287-26091-90-720.jpg)
Scratched hub allows the wheel to rotate. Same detail used on the main wheels. Not quite concentric, so I may adjust it.
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/2/8/8/1776288-26091-84-720.jpg)
Now definitely finished. Lots learned for next time...

Welcome, Nicolas. This kit has raised panel lines, and I have no idea how they will enhance or detract... Some might re-scribe, but I'm going to work with it, as is.

Welcome, Mirko. I've moved onto the decals, so more photos later in the week. Lots of small parts to add, plus the canopy too, of course.

Welcome, Andrew. I won't be able to finish this before going on summer holiday, but hopefully I'll install the undercarriage and their covers.

After a couple of weeks away, a few hours have been enjoyed, moving towards completion. Lots of lessons learned, and only a couple of tasks to complete.

Many thanks for your 'likes', everyone. I've only the aerial cables to add, and that will be my first Smer kit finished! It has been fun trying to add improvements, but I see more clearly on a larger screen, that there is still lots of room for improvements to my 'skills' 🙂

Welcome, Robert, and thanks for your kind words. A learning experience for sure. I'm amazed that the canopy fits the fuselage very well! I was braced for disappointment 😉
