Corsair
Going to try the multi chipping method of weathering, first base aluminium
Zinc chromate to add additional layer to chipping randomness
Chip madness, not all this mess will be seen on finished beast
A little pre shading as this will be all one colour - dark sea blue. Hope I don’t scratch down to any white.
Found image on web showing this kits last landing (written off after this “landing” - no injuries apart from pride luckily)
Blue coat done and varied shades to break up uniform colour
Again on top, this wasn’t the US’s most complex scheme
Chipped/worn with gloss coat ready for decals
A flat coat and some extra weathering
The additional weathering more noticeable in flesh
Blade a little over chipped but please with leading edge
Finished

Lesson learnt on layered chipping - cover airframe in aluminium as when you come to chip you forget the exact range of the partial silvered sections

Nice layered chipping! Not easy to get scale right in 1:72. You nailed it! I'll have to remember the lesson.

Thanks for kind words. This was a quick 'build' especially for me, not a lot of build but more a fun exercise in painting. While the phot of the original 18 don't appear to show as much weather it hard not to have fun with chipping on a Corsair. These small and relatively cheap HobbyBoss kits are great for practicing paint techniques.
Cheers all and on to the next
