"RTB" Return To Base? Do your kits fly away if you don't keep track? 😉

Welcome Nathan, Augie and John. @ John, no it means Ready to build., once I have everything I want as far as aftermarket stuff I put it all in the box and mark it RTB so I know everything is there. Otherwise I sometimes end up buying stuff I already have. A quick update on this one, paint and decals are done and and sealed. Waiting for anti-glare panel to dry and I will apply the wash. So getting near the end on this one. I will try and get some more pictures up soon. Spoiler, I did not do the box art version.

Thank you very much Nathan and jaero, I am glad you like it. @ Nathan, I thought it would be nice in that scheme, I had never seen one in those colors. I have the usual black one and the "C" I have will be done in NMF Nasa markings and I have a "R" which will also be in black. All I need to get is the 2 seater and do it in the white. Lol.

I was going to paint mine as used in the Cuban Missile Crisis which was supposed to be Dark Sea Blue. I really like yours though. Came out looking sharp!

Thank you again. The decal sheet I have has those markings on it. It was shot down over Cuba. I think the pilot's last name was Anderson, he was either a Maj. or a Col. do not remember which. I lived in Key West Fla. during the Cuban missile crisis. My dad was stationed at Boca Chica naval air station. He was in the Air Force, but they had a F-106 squadron there. The Navy flew the RF-8 Crusader's out of there.

When I was in Cuba, I saw the wreckage of a U-2. Wonder if it's the same one…

I do not know for sure, looks like it's the wrong color, but could be.

The one shot down during the Cuban missile crisis was painted Navy Blue and had the tail# 6676.

Does not mean they did not get another one at some point. The one in the picture appears to be either silver or Natural metal.

I wouldn't think the Cubans would do a totally accurate set of markings, it's an outdoor display with a primarily political purpose.

Looking great. Wingspan looks big at 1:48!

@ Ben, you are most likely correct. Thank you very much Alberto. Yes it is rather large, it will be going on the ceiling.
