Comparing the 1/72 Tiger I early from Vespid vs Border Model .
Both kits essentially can only make a few units from the 2.SS Das Reich in early 43. Due mainly because both offer only 1 type of turret bin, which was only used on about 8 units. I chose to build the Border kit OOB , but the Vespid kit I'm making a later early Tiger of sPzAbt 502 using Echelon decals , and a turret bin from ET models. Vespid includes spare tracks with hangers for the turret. It also includes the later fiefel air filter. Though it does not include the exhaust heat shields, which Border does, so I'm using those.
Smoke dischargers..Border only offers the turret ones, it does not have the hull mounted. Though it does have the empty mounts molded on the hull. If building a Tiger that has them removed, use the Border kit,as the Vespid hull has the mounts molded on , and would be a pain to remove.
Both kits are great, but detail wise the Vespid kit wins. Depending on the unit your building besides the few from Das Reich , each kit offers different options , so hopefully this comparison will help you determine which kit to buy. Hopefully Vespid will make later versions as I do like it better.
