No decals up till now. All painted with home made masks.

![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/8/5/5/443855-11178-75-720.jpg)
To test how far I could go with my Silhoutte Cameo I went on painting the kill marks and swastika on the tail.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/8/5/6/443856-11178-22-720.jpg)
First the black
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/8/5/7/443857-11178-60-720.jpg)
Then the inner mask with maskol just to be sure no paint seeps in to the edges.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/8/5/9/443859-11178-35-720.jpg)
Then the white.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/8/5/8/443858-11178-85-720.jpg)
Et voila.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/8/6/0/443860-11178-33-720.jpg)
Then disaster struck on the right side. When removing the tape same paint of the base layer lifted and I had two choices. Repair or redo. I chose the latter. Which proved to be quicker. Just a black base layer followed by the mask en than the white.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/8/6/2/443862-11178-37-720.jpg)
The white.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/8/6/1/443861-11178-34-720.jpg)
Et voila, for the second time. Knowing that the radius of the cirkels is only 0,636 mm I would say my Sihouette works very well.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/8/6/3/443863-11178-19-720.jpg)
Next up the swastikas. I found out that cutting narrow bands isn't practical. So I went with a big outer mask and smaller inner mask.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/8/6/5/443865-11178-65-720.jpg)
First the white.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/8/6/4/443864-11178-36-720.jpg)
Remove the masks to make room for the smaller mask.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/8/6/6/443866-11178-69-720.jpg)
Smaller mask. And here comes the big problem with this method. The alignment of the different masks. I have a solution for this, but on the tail there wasn't enough room. So it was the old eyeball mark 1.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/8/6/7/443867-11178-95-720.jpg)
Then the black.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/8/6/8/443868-11178-41-720.jpg)
And still no decals up till now. Next up are... the decals.

Beautiful 109. I appreciate the step-by-step pics of the masking. Can I ask what airbrush you use for the mottling? It looks perfect.

It looks fantastic! 👍 Great work on the alignment of the paint masks!
What masking paper/material do you use in your cameo? It looks semi-transparent. I've used Tamiya's masking paper, but it is hard to do really small detail masks with it.

Thx everyone. Can you believe this was my first try at German mottled camouflage in whole my modeling career. Still got a lot to learn.
@ John Hoffmann, I use the Iwata CM-SB for all the delicate stuff.
@Björn Svedberg, I also tries Tamiya tape with mixed results. It is also hard to align because you can hardly see through it. Now I use something like friskit that I buy in a Lucas Creative store. It works better, but for small details the Cameo isn't really suited I think. For that you should use a high end expensive machine.

Started this kit years ago (2003) but never got past the cockpit. After reading the book A higher call it got me thinking of building Franz Stiglers machine. It was such an inspiration that it took me only a couple of weeks to get the painting done.
