SE 4050 Vautour IIB Retro-modelling
Main parts ,,, full of rivets.
Small parts , canopy and decals
Instructions ... the very old way
Carefully gluing fuselage halves ... step by step ... bottom side
both ends .. in the backgroud DC-8 wing being finished ,,,
Top side and spine
and tail
Bellies from engine nacelles .... quite a prominent joint must be sanded
Engine nacelles top ... Much better than expected.... some careful work with files has been done
Dorsal spine ... rather good
This is not so good 🙁 ... Careful sanding must be done
Fuselage belly .... quite good under a coat of silver paint.
Hummmm ... this ugly gap and awful lot of work
arggggg
more arrg .. 😉
Some sanding has been done ,,, but still not a good joint
Belly sanded .... rather good
The gap between taiplane piece and tail slot was very big , so I cut the part in two and sanded the inner "bullet"
Engine nacelles to wing joints were much better than expected.
Fuselage sanding done
Underside joint was acceptable to me ....
... but some sanding was needed on the upper-sides
on both wings
Right fuselage primed
Upper wings ... not that bad ,,, isn't it ?
Left fuselage primed
Nose ... much better than expected
Nose ... I will NOT rescribe panel lines ... remember ... this is retro-modelling ...
Wings and engine nacelles
Wings ans tail glued and in place ... waiting for some more paint ...
AARRGGG !!!! Some glue went to the tail ,,, but I don't really care ...
Decalling "intructions"
Decalling "instructions" , sheet 2 . There is quite a difference from the art box, which depicts a two-seat ,,,, by the way 😉
Decalling started
Not bad for decals that are almost 40 years old
All decals used as is ,,, Good quality from Heller.
Gluing undercarriage ... which is rather difficult to align.
Make-shift jig. Red decal on tail needs some retouch.
Outrigers have been moved down so that they can touch the "ground"
Finished
Plenty of rivets

Album info
Out of the box easy retro-project. I've been not so extreme on this retro-project ,,, Acrylics instead of enamels ,,,, but : no detailing , no correcting , no putty , and no airbrush. The kit has no cockpit and no wheel wells .... so it should be a fast project. Paints used : Gunze , Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics.
Finished ... rather pleased with the result.
