So today started out as normal. After lunch I had to drop off the wife and grandbaby to the mall then come back home to do some work and then pick them up again after a couple of hrs. On the way, I passed an old hobby store I last visited 5 yrs ago. They mostly sell warhammer and comic books. I said what the hell. I probably wont get anything since they dont have any kits.
A little background story...last week I wanted to update my inventory while searching endlessly on ebay. Then I happen to stumbled to this website and...well...basically I have woken up the demon. So now I need to get my fix.
Mistake#1 - I started off fine, only finding Batman and Deadpool doiramas. They looked great and would look good in my display case which already has a few other deadpool figures. The best part was they were priced less than average. Thank you Google!!!
Mistake#2 - I went to the cashier to check out and ask if they had any special. Why yes sir come right here sir. Our warhammer are 20 off. Get the ef out!!!! Then I came just the right time then. I collect warhammer, airplane, motorcycle. It ticks all the boxes. So I walk out with 2, not 1, Stormcloud Attack set. Never had one, never even knew they existed. They look fantastic though!!! I now own 2 out of a series of 3. So the hunt is on for the 3rd set. I am now feeling and the blood flowing.
Mistake#3 - So I walk out an hour later and continue to head home. Dammmm! I only have an hour to go and I have to head back this way to pick up the CFO. Oh hell what's that? Oh dang! It's Hobby Lobby!! Fart, I already got my fix and well they dont really have any cool stuff. What's the harm?...and besides I never bought any kit from them before. What the hell...just go in. Back in the days, my mom would tell me....son, I know you want all of them. But if you are lucky you are going home with one. So make it count. Today my mom was not with me but I was very lucky coz visa came with me!!! So yes, I ended up with 5 kits all in a scale I never bought enmass.
If I was buying coccaine, novaccaine, lidoccaine, anyccaine I would be classified as an addict and would be on my way back to rehab.
Marketing 101 - the first kit I picked up was the trumpeter YF-23 for a jaw dropping $4.99. Sheeeyt....I can do better than this. Second, I picked up the F4F for $6.99 but there are 2 of them. 2 for $14 is a damn good deal. I'll take that thank u very much. Next up was the F-111 for $14.99. Looks nicer than the first 3 and what the hell its about the same price as the 2 phantoms. I'm sold. And the piece de resistance, a trumpeter F-16A/C in 1:144 for a whopping $17.99!!! At this point I'm like what the @#$%. I'M ALL IN. I swear it's like going to costco!!!
Sidenote: At the check out counter, there was lady who had a coupon on her cell phone for 40 effing % off. I says hotdamn maam where can I score one of those? She says go on line download and then blah blah blah. I'm like wow ok. I get on the smart phone and she says....you know what? it's your lucky day, you can just use mine. Thank you JESUS!!!!
Words of the Wise#1 - if you are in a collecting mode, always check the seal/wrap. Usually they will have a few kits to choose from. Pick the best box with the best seal. Today, the first kit I chose had a small tear on the side. I did not notice it until I was almost at the counter. I had to double back and picked a better one.
Words of the Wise#2 - if presented with the same type of kit, better to choose the older version. The two F4F kits were identical except for the box art. Same maker, same serial no., same year, scale, origin. Even the pix of the airplane is the same and the insignia. I had never faced this delemna before. In this case better to buy both.
Cheers 😄

You are very lucky with an old fashioned brick and mortar shop nearby. I have to resort to internet shopping. Doesn't result in an immediate fix, so it sometimes #Cough always #Cough leads to multiple orders 😄
