Thanks guys. Progress is slow, because I have a few others I'm trying to finish, but you will see more results soon. Work tries to get in the way, but I'm on the job. This is a great kit, I recommend it to everybody.

Always nice to see a truck getting built especially if it's being customized. If i was doing something like this i would also lower it's ride height make it hug the ground. Make it a really cool ride.

Lol, I was discussing lowering it, with a buddy of mine. Maybe the next one, will get some lowering treatment? I really like those front fenders. I might try to make one. I love getting creative.

I'm going to be getting this project moving again over the next few days. Now that the man cave is built and things are in, I'm just testing out the painting and temperature. I still have to make my custom spray booth, but I'm a little concerned about the temperature at the moment. Tests are ongoing, as i type. Unfortunately, the WiFi was something I didn't factor in, so I'm also on the lookout for some kind of booster. Keep watching.

Bozzer, get a "wireline" Wifi extender. A couple of boxes that plug into outlets and cable to you router, then use the AC wires in the house to extend the data link to the farthest reaches of the house. Layout like this: Modem -> Fast router with Wifi -> cat 5 or 6 to wireline adapter -> house wiring -> 2nd wireline adapter -> cat 5 or 6 -> any old working Wifi router -> Wfi devices at other end of the house.

Holy Truck! This has progressed well. I like the purple colour and the LED's Glad to see you lengthened the chassis. And that's quite some apartment your adding onto the cab! I have 3 of the Italeri 378's now to build. I've also picked up 3 Peterbilt 389 Long bonnet conversion kits these look much better than the short nose 378 version Italeri did. These are 3D printed and come with the modern 389 headlights very fine 3D print hardly any print lines visible just a light sand needed. Got them from ebay also brought a full cab and rear body section for the heavily modified Peterbilt Shockwave Jet powered show truck powered by 3 x J34 jet engines! All nicely 3D printed but without the tubular chassis i have to hand make that! I'll scale up the old 1/32 scale AMT kit version as a basis for the design.

Lol Nigel, you know me, mate. If i can use something that's in abundance, then I'm all over it. Little side note though. They have a clear coating on them, so light sand them, before trying to glue or paint them. It's also possible to split them, to make them thinner, if you use a sharp knife.

I treated myself to a 3D printer, Nigel. Obviously, i have great ideas! In real life though, it's not as easy as you may think? So every print, is a learning experience. Just imagine going back to an airfix 1/72 plane, and a penknife? I started off feeling like Einstein, and realised that I'm a dinosaur! Everyday is a school day though

Good luck with the printer. It's something I have considered but also being in the Dinosaur camp, it's the software that confounds me. Perhaps you should start a new thread on your 3D adventures.

Chassis looks similar to the truck kit I have. I had to spend some quality time cleaning up the plastic, all fun though, just using a flat metal file and a sanding stick, to clean things up.

@Bill. My advice is to first do some homework. I thought I had, but i was definitely wrong. Then, you need to choose a machine. My thoughts on that were, get something cheap, so i could learn easy and upgrade when I was ready? Yep, that was a mistake too. It's actually harder when you get a cheap machine. Aim for something mid range and definitely with a self levelling bed. If you don't like it or its not what you want to get into, atleast you can return some of your money, by selling it on. Now if you do continue, you need to get yourself a decent supply of filament. And don't forget your Pritt Stik! Then you can print something. There's plenty of STL files that you can buy, but for starters, just get use to your machine. There's a few good sites, where people swap files for free, so that's worth looking into too. I'm already looking for a new printer, so I can upgrade. Basically, I thought I knew what i was doing, but I soon realized that I didn't. However, I've learned a lot, even if it was, the hard way. I've now successfully printed a machine, in parts, so i can try photogrammetry. That's my next mission. Fingers crossed, it works!

@Treehugger. I've found that most Italeri kits, use the same chassis and it's based on the freightliner. The Peterbilt chassis, however, is different. After a few of these kits, you can almost build them with your eyes closed. I currently have about 8 kits now, all different manufacturers, in various stages of completion. I'm messing around with some different painting techniques, right now, on a Peterbilt 377. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up, if it turns out ok? I like to be a little adventurous, so I don't mind if it all goes wrong. There's always another time, to go back and fix it? Lol

I would encourage anyone considering 3D printing to also look into SLA printers in addition to FDM. That's the route I went when I took the plunge. The entry cost for the machine itself is lower, although the material cost can be (slightly) higher and some additional equipment is needed for post processing. I've found the resolution and accuracy to be very good, even for some of the more detailed parts I've made, and the parts need minimal filling and sanding once cured. The learning curve is different - personally I found it less intimidating than FDM. You certainly have to more careful about how your parts are designed, and how their oriented and supported when printing, but for the machine settings, I found the manufacturer recommendations to work pretty well without really any tweaking. Just a suggestion for anyone trying to get into it - all just depends on which technology you're personally more comfortable with.
