Tamiya F-14D WIP 7
The decals was intended for the AMK kit, so I have to cut the VF-2 bands a little shorter to fit the Tamiya nose. But it worked strangely when I applied Mr. Mark Setter to it. A lot of bubbles appeared! I sliced the bubble open and applied more Mr. Mark Setter, but it seemed the situation did not get better. I had to sand the bubbles out later on, leaving the bands a liitle bruised
The left side was better, but it still need some treating
Nonetheless, I sanded the nose color bands to remove the bubbles, and then applied the US roundels and ejection seat marks
Update: Weathering...I originally planned a cleaner build but have to weather a bit heavier due to the decal issue. But not too heavy, the F-14D was well maintained during its service life.
I applied a thin layer of mixture of Mr. Color C46 clear coat and C181 semi gloss coat to protected the decals. Then, Winsor Newton Oil Colors thinned with Zippo Lighter Liquid was hand brushed to various areas on the airframe.
The hand-brush was tied to the pivot of wing rotate axes to draw curves that depicts the rubbing between the upper and lower surface of wing and seal plates

Looks great! And somehow strangely familiar😉
Wonder what's wrong with those decals, worked like a charm over here - printed by cartograf, good as usual...

Applying decals... but the AMK decals needs some treat since some bubbles appears on some large pieces. It was really frustrating, but I am going to give it a try
