Putty needed to make the front of the instrument panel the same width as the rest of the unit.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/1/3/3/1023133-36583-64-720.jpg)
Left side. Sanding the putty was not easy.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/1/3/4/1023134-36583-73-720.jpg)
Right side.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/4/4/0/1026440-36583-60-720.jpg)
Instrument panel now painted and glued in place.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/4/4/4/1026444-36583-64-720.jpg)
Close up view. Dry brushing the dials worked reasonably well, given that I had to use the wrong kind of paint.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/1/7/9/1036179-36583-99-pristine.jpg)
What a real one looks like.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/4/4/5/1026445-36583-79-720.jpg)
Cockpit this far.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/4/4/1/1026441-36583-96-720.jpg)
Flash on to show the rear seats.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/4/4/2/1026442-36583-53-720.jpg)
I’ve read that this kit is a tail sitter so I flattened some fishing weights and glued them to the floor. I’m also including 2 crew figures. Hopefully it’s enough.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/4/6/5/1026465-36583-59-720.jpg)
Before and after flattening. Each flat piece is half of a weight.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/4/4/4/1027444-36583-38-720.jpg)
Rocket tube. Pretty representative of how well the 6 fit together. And this is after I sanded the sides to remove the ejector pins and line them up as best I could.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/5/8/3/1027583-36583-97-720.jpg)
To get the pilot’s arms remotely close to the cyclic and collective he gained some serious weight. He now has very broad shoulders, but still looks more proportional than the figures included in the kit.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/5/8/2/1027582-36583-83-720.jpg)
Using Mr. Putty over regular putty to fill and cover the weight gain.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/5/8/6/1027586-36583-50-720.jpg)
This is what the kit came with. I’ll post a side-by-side shot once the putty has dried.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/6/2/9/1027629-36583-37-720.jpg)
Pilot figures side-by-side. PJ Production’s is infinitely better than the Spaceballs figures provided by Fujimi
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/6/2/8/1027628-36583-57-720.jpg)
Side by side in the cockpit.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/6/3/0/1027630-36583-52-720.jpg)
Fits reasonably well.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/8/7/4/1029874-36583-49-720.jpg)
I want the gunner’s head facing straight into the gunsight…
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/8/7/6/1029876-36583-69-720.jpg)
…So I had to behead him first. (I also cut off his right foot, but that was an accident. Don’t worry - he got better.)
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/8/7/5/1029875-36583-60-720.jpg)
Crap - now he needs a neck.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/8/7/3/1029873-36583-38-720.jpg)
Yay, fixing sink marks! My favorite!!
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/8/8/0/1030880-36583-30-720.jpg)
Test fitting the engine covers. Why don’t they fit properly?
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/8/7/9/1030879-36583-20-720.jpg)
Because Fujimi put locator pins on BOTH sides. Obviously.
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/8/8/2/1030882-36583-82-720.jpg)
And we have a pilot!
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/8/8/1/1030881-36583-56-720.jpg)
Fits pretty well too!
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/8/8/3/1030883-36583-86-720.jpg)
Rear view.
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/1/5/0/1040150-36583-25-720.jpg)
And we have a copilot/weapons officer!
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/1/4/9/1040149-36583-91-720.jpg)
Yeah, they’ll be a bit cozy in there. The pilot doesn’t look too amused.
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/1/4/7/1040147-36583-79-720.jpg)
Overhead view.
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/1/4/8/1040148-36583-59-720.jpg)
There’s an impressive panel gap when you line up the engine cover with the fuselage halves.
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/1/2/6/1134126-36583-68-720.jpg)
Trying to fit the cockpit windows and roof is a NIGHTMARE. The plastic warped on one side, nothing lines up properly, and there are no useful locator pins.
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/1/2/7/1134127-36583-33-720.jpg)
Tail glued together at the fenestron. Note the panel gap that seems to be needed to make the front windows to somewhat line up. Sigh…
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/1/7/9/1138179-36583-98-720.jpg)
Took a break from playing cockpit Tetris to check whether I had put enough weight in the cockpit. Good news - it won’t be a tail sitter!
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/0/0/7/1139007-36583-90-720.jpg)
Slowly making progress on the cockpit. I don’t think there’s any chance of everything lining up and sitting flush, but hopefully it won’t look too bad. Not sure how I’ll discreetly fit a brace into the cockpit though - maybe it’ll be for the pilots to hang their dry cleaning?
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/1/1/4/1139114-36583-63-720.jpg)
I finally figured out why the roof won’t sit properly - even with the brace, the copilot’s helmet is too close to the side windows. Sigh…Time for some surgery on the copilot’s helmet.
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/1/1/3/1139113-36583-81-720.jpg)
Surgery has begun.
![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/1/1/5/1139115-36583-88-720.jpg)
Things still don’t line up perfectly, but the cockpit is starting to look decent. Hopefully I’ll finish the surgery tomorrow and get the roof in place.
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/8/0/8/1139808-36583-17-720.jpg)
This was the only way to get the cockpit and roof panels to come close to lining up without some major sanding of the clear canopy. Time to find out how good I am at filling a monster panel gap. Thankfully, the section where the tail and body meet will be covered by the engine.
![Album image #39 Album image #39](/albums/img/2/5/2/1145252-36583-33-720.jpg)
Gap filled, hopefully. Primer don’t let me down!
![Album image #40 Album image #40](/albums/img/9/6/8/1151968-36583-67-720.jpg)
Started on the decals and the red ones really showed their age. Not sure yet if I’ll try to fix them or just scrap them entirely.
![Album image #41 Album image #41](/albums/img/3/9/1/1165391-36583-12-720.jpg)
Because I’m a masochist (and because I found this build online britmodeller.com/for..fujimi-done-for-now/), I’m now trying to scratch build an overhead panel for the cockpit. Here’s what it should look like.
![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/3/9/2/1165392-36583-96-720.jpg)
Another view.
![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/3/9/0/1165390-36583-90-720.jpg)
What I’ve got so far.
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/3/8/9/1165389-36583-34-720.jpg)
Close up view.
![Album image #45 Album image #45](/albums/img/3/8/8/1165388-36583-69-720.jpg)
Side by side with the actual roof.
![Album image #46 Album image #46](/albums/img/0/5/0/1173050-36583-62-720.jpg)
Finally glued the roof in place. Not sure if it’s the kit or my sanding, but there will be major gaps to fill.
![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/5/0/6/1180506-36583-16-720.jpg)
Waiting for the primer to dry.
![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/5/0/7/1180507-36583-45-720.jpg)
Sigh…glued the skids on only to have one break off while painting the fuselage…
![Album image #49 Album image #49](/albums/img/5/0/5/1180505-36583-69-720.jpg)
The culprit, along with various other parts that will need to be glued on after painting.
![Album image #50 Album image #50](/albums/img/8/0/2/1509802-36583-44-720.jpg)
Finally got around to posting some photos of the finished kit.

The PJ Lynx crew might have been a good idea. I don't have photos but the copilot is also too tall if you build the gunship version - the roof won't sit correctly if you install the gunsight. Not sure if I'll ever finish this damn kit.

Album info
Mostly out of box, with aftermarket crew figures.
