The center hull is about a big an object as my printer can print. It took almost 18 hours to print that one part. Some of the pieces have defects but sandpaper and putty should give an ok result. I'm learning to better print things by asking dumb questions on Reddit so the parts are getting better as I go.

Thanks James. I went and bought a 4 color AK set of WW1 German tank colors. It's pretty thick stuff, had to shoot it at 35 psi to get it to come out as a thin layer. I tried thinning it with Vallejo airbrush thinner and it kind of curdled. I soldiered on anyway as I want a thin mottled base layer. I should have just mixed up some colors with Tamiya paints as I'm used to painting with those. Anyhow it's going pretty well. I'm going to attempt a 4-color soft-edged scheme.

My wife just came out in the garage and asked "so do you need a bigger paint booth?" Lol.

I've never freehanded camo before with an airbrush. It's kind of fun. I prefer switching colors after every splotch.

Oh, watching. 👀
A big model, it barely fits into your paint booth. 😄
But it fits. Nice paintjob, Ben. 👍

I thought this diagram was interesting: pinterest.com/pin/697917273486531352/ - it's bigger than a Maus!

I snagged them from my mom, lol. All the pins I had have little round plastic balls on the end, I needed some old school pins. Old model railroad trick to make rivets.

Such a huge beast. With some Flak it would be a moving fortress. Well, it pretty much is. 😄

Will you go for some mud on the tracks and armor?
Thanks for sharing the link to the 3d files of soldiers. One day I'd like to do a WW1 themed dio, so this could come in handy. 👍

Thank you Villers de Vos. WhiteGlint, I'm not sure. My wife said it looks great as-is when I asked her if I should mud it up a bit. I'm going to work on some figures to go with it while I think about it. I think some figures will really help bring out the scale. This thing had a crew of 27...

In 1918 the Germans switched from the Maltese cross to the bar cross. These tanks would have been finished in 1919 had the war not ended. I like the look of the earlier crosses better though!

Ben, the "aerial recognition" crosses on top of the sponsons is probably a first. Was it your artistic initiative?

I understand that late in the war some German A7V tanks had crosses on top. As well, late war British tanks had red and white recognition stripes on top in addition to the ones on the nose - those two were my inspiration.

Nice start on the figures. I guess this means we will see "small" diorama?

Whiteglint, I'm not sure where I'm going with it. I've been off doing some railway modeling for a while but I'll come back to it soon.

Nice figures!
I wouldn't do a general black wash, work on the different colors/areas individually.
I would also take colors that match the basic tone.
For example dark blue and dark brown.
Either way, you'll make it😄
