Kawasaki C-1

A very expensive and time-consuming kit to produce, hahaha!

The landing gear must be made by yourself, as the kit is basically made in flight.

The front wheels, in particular, require a sculptural skill.
I need to get our hands on a chisel...

The starboard side has been cut open.
The C-1's landing gear is not pulled up vertically like the C-130's, so it takes up a lot of space.

The thickness of the wings is not uniform!
I'm in trouble...

In addition, the vortex generator is missing due to a molding defect.
I'll have to chop up some plastic plates.

I worked hard and installed 2/3 of the landing gear.
However, after I took the photos I realised that the starboard main gear was installed in the wrong position, so I corrected it.

It is roughly this size.
It is smaller than the C-130 and about the same size as the An-72.

The gear bay on the port side has also been opened.
The resin is thicker than on the starboard side...

Make the bulkheads as appropriate.

With this gap it's impossible to get in-flight pressurisation...

There is a Japanese proverb that says, "When the impossible is done, the reasonable is pulled in."

The gaps in the main wings are carefully filled.
This is because the work of correcting the thickness of the wing is continuously subjected to strong force...

Create the APU system.
This kit really only shows the general shape of the C-1, so it is up to me to reproduce the details.

The whole picture is now clear.
From a distance it looks good, but up close it's quite rickety.
Fixing this is the goal now!

If there is a gap, the fuselage can break with the slightest impact.
Fill the gaps with high density epoxy putty and go to bed.

Even the JT8D engine is jamming.

The JT8D will now have normal thrust.

Not only the nozzle but also the body is rattling...

I sanded the windows and stuff.

Most of the parts have been glued together.
I would like to paint the parts in separate pieces and then assemble them, but the gaps are so big that I can't do that.

The gaps were filled with epoxy putty and filed.
I'm tempted to paint the surfacer here, but there are still a few parts that I haven't fitted yet.

That's right, 30 vortex generators per side, 60 on each side!

I did my best to plant them.

I took a commemorative photo with Hasegawa's 1/200 C-1, which I have been using as a replacement for the instruction manual since my work has progressed considerably.

At last we have painted the surfacer!
I don't like to use it unless it's an injection kit with a strong moulding colour or resin kit , as I always have trouble adjusting the consistency.

I painted the first colour of the camouflage.
This tricolour camouflage needs to be considered carefully because the colour of the sand yellow varies from time to time and fades rather severely with sun exposure.

I painted the second colour of the camouflage.
I don't know... we're painting camouflage by atmosphere...

All masking has been removed.

I sprayed the surface with clear to prepare it for the decals.
This should reduce the silbering phenomenon somewhat.

And here I have yet another problem!
The emblem of the 2nd Transport Air Wing has a section bordered in white.
This decal has a white layer as a base, but the border is transparent!
Why? !
