Construction has begun… next up, painting the interior.
Base colors added to interior
Cockpit installed
Fuselage together and wing installed
Exhaust pipes added and hollowed out. Landing gear struts added
Engine detail painted, washed, and installed
Cowling and horizontal stabilizers glued in place.

Tamiya lacquer Flat Aluminum on the spinner with AK Real Color Aluminum on the prop blades
Tamiya lacquer Flat Aluminum and Tamiya Acrylic Lemon Yellow
Tamiya Lacquer Flat Black & Flat Aluminum, plus Tamiya Acrylic Lemon Yellow
Upper wing primed white for a better base for the yellow
Base coat of Model Master Flat Insignia Yellow on upper wing
Top coat of Model Master Chrome Yellow on upper wing
Rollover bar and life raft canister w/headrest glued onto rear decking
Canopy masked and glued into place, also forward antenna mast glued in place, then cut off for VF-2 modification
True Blue Section leader band & cowl, wing chevron airbrushed on
Base colors now all on. Next up, touch up where paint had problems
Decals on, front 1/4
Decals on, rear 1/4
Decals on underside
Gloss coat on to seal in decals and ready for panel line wash
Panel line wash on and sealed in
All finished, front 1/4 view
All finished rear 1/4 view
All finished, undersides view

@Villiers & @Robert, yup, this F2A will be painted as during the short time of late 1940 to early 1941 when they were in between the wars Yellow Wings full glorious color… before they went into the low visibility overall Light Gray.

Coming right along 👍 Nice yellow too, tough color to get right. At least I have trouble getting it to cover well, nicely done.

Thanks John. It took three layers to get the wings properly yellow: white primer, followed by flat insignia yellow, then gloss chrome yellow. Lots of depth in there.

SM, you caught me! 😉 I actually did not glue the tail wheel in place for painting purposes, only pressed it into its spot, and it shifted during the photo session!
