1/72 mig-29c, Russian air force.
Use only the decal offered by the kit, didn't feel too bad compared to color PE.
Hand painted the seat and belts, the kit didn't offer PE for belts.
Also use eye shadows for the nozzles, effect is subtle.
Plan to paint these areas with titanium silver before surfacing color, enhance the metallic effect of real plane.
Ready to paint the surfacing camo, the areas in titanium shall not be completely covered by surfacing color, which will enhance the metallic look of the whole plane.

After titanium preshading… looks alright… I think it's time to go for decals…

After titanium preshading…
Still ongoing.
The metallic preshading areas look not bad, I think I got what I imagined.
Almost done?
I only use enamel for my planes, and weathering with acrylic pigments. Because enamel has better shine and smoothness compare to acrylics.
Why not nitro? It's forbidden by my wife.

A foam sample would be utilized for next project.
It is actually tougher than yoga mat, can cut for the land base (basic surface) or anything in desire.

Thank you Robin, I'll try new painting idea on the plane surface, hopefully the final reveal looks even better.

I'm really curious how your metallic pre-shading with titanium will turn out. This is an interesting approach.

@Robin, haha believe it or not, so am I; this would be the first trial, I'll upload the results very soon.
The idea came to my mind when I saw the photo of real plane the other day.

Simon, I don't plan to do chipping, it's another kind of surface fading, you'll see it soon, just I'm not hundred percent confident to make it. But as I said always, science is about trials and errors😎

Thanks Teeradej, I just got the airbrushing done today, no weathering has been applied so far, but will do soon 🤝.
For this time I tried to airbrush some of the weathering effects out before real weathering, and seems somewhat succeeded 😁

Thanks Al Berto, it's not done yet, I already have some weathering plan, hopefully it would look nicer for final reveal.

Now i know what you meant!
Is this a wear and tear due to the air resistance?
Please enlighten me, it's not my area of expertise;)
Maybe my new knowledge can be helpful later...

I think you are right Simon, wear of air resistance. I found this on pics of Russian mig-29, and mostly only on Russian might, probably due to maintenance rate and so (I'm not criticizing any one).
The effect shows slightly different in different angles and light condition, but I think I've got what I plan to get.

Thanks Simon, the titanium preshading worked, not perfect though, I can handle it better next time.

Vincent, why not?
This kit is good, both in details and fitment. Can change to another paint scheme.
By the way Vincent, did you start to use airbrush?

Yes this kit is fun to build. I'm probably going to get the 29a version. And yes I use my airbrush now for every plane after the f-16.

One of my friends wanted me to build it for him, just hopefully things work out.
As always, use only parts from the kit.
It's a good kit and easy to assemble, with full of weapons.
