This is the Blackdog resin set that I basically demolished. I did not want to use the complete set as it displays too many open panels. I opted only to use the starboard side of the top fuselage part highlighting the EPU.
Lots of work was done just to get this part lined up to fit correctly. Once that was done, I had to sand the hell out of it just to make sure it would fit when placing the bottom fuselage and intake on. Even then with Tamiya's high tolerances, it made for a fit that will require sanding in other places.
Lots of dry fittings... more to come.
This is the Aires exhaust. I placed toothpicks to paint the exhaust stains over the white paint.
Here is the resulting black paint work over the white with the toothpicks acting as the mask. Not too bad...
Alclad metal paintwork with differing tones and a light-thinned blue tone on top.
The 'piano-hinge' was one of the areas where I had to putty and sand. I will need to revisit this area and clean it up and scribe.
Mr. Hobby paint work with some light weathering done on the middle panels.
More weathering to come to highlight the panel lines.
Eduard PE used for the pylons.
