Diorama called "History of an Airplane". Interessting story about the P-47D "Razorback" -75971.
On May, 29th 1944, 2nd Lt. Lloyd Hathcock landed by accident on an airfield which was occupied by german troops.
His airplane, a P-47D Razorback with the register 75971, was earlier flown by fighter ace G. Nowotny at 317th Fighter Squadron/325th Fighter Group who shot down 8 enemy fighters with this aircraft.
Hathcock got this plane in early 1944 and it was one of the first P-47 arrived at the "Tuskegee Airmen".
After the germans catched the plane from unlucky pilot Hathcock, who went to german POW camp till the end of the war, they transferred it to the KG 200, also known as "Circus Rosarius. The P-47D was named "T9+LK", undergoes several testflights by the germans and got back to USAAF, when allied troops occupied Goettingen in late 1944.
The germans couldn't take the aircraft with them due to a lack of spare parts and left it at Goettingen when they escaped.
