The Busmaster PMV (Protected Mobility Vehicle) is designed to provide protected monbility to infantry and combat support troops such as engineers, signallers and the like.
It is not an APC, however it is mine/IED/blast resistance and does provide proection from small arms fire.
It was originally designed to provide mobility to Australian Infantry battallions and supporing combat arms, thereby allowing the light infantry batallions to be used in a motorised role.
Designed for use in northern Australias and South East Asia the vehicle is quite spacious, has cooling to keep the troops no hotter than the outside temperature and comes in a number of variants.
These vehicles gained a wider usage after Iraq (Gulf II) and Afganistan/GWOT when they were picked up by a number of other countries after a number were attacked or blown up but no crew or passengers were killed.
These vehicles are now used by conventional troops and special forces by Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Japan, Indonesia and perhaps other countries.
There are several variations such as ambulances, assault pioneer vehicles, command vehicles etc.
The original vehicles is dervied from an Irish design by Timmins.
I intend to build at least one (maybe two) of these kits into SECDET vehicles in IraQ(Gulf II).
Possibly I will build one of them up for an Afghanistan period vehicle.
Most likely they will both be build as 2 Cav Regt.
